2012 Fit AT - Transmission leak with pictures
Hoping someone out there has had this issue so I know what I may be in for. Otherwise I'll keep the thread updated with what happens so other people can know how it all turns out.
Starting in late April, the transmission developed a leak, and I would see about 1 spot appear on the garage floor per day. After about 30 days, I called the local Honda dealer, dropped it off for the day, and was told the problem was a loose bolt, which they tightened or replaced. They told me to call back if the leak persisted. Here is what I saw today. https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-1...icture+001.jpg https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-5...icture+002.jpg https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-i...icture+003.jpg 1,542 miles. Garaged every day. |
Keep taking it back and take pictures and keep the paper work. Lemon law will eventually take over. Minnesota Lemon Law | Minnesota Lemon Law Statutes | Minnesota Lemon Law Attorneys | YourLemonLawRights

I would take it back in asap and have them check it out.It could be a seal but they should be able to track it down.
I will check my transmission today for any signs of a leak.I have 8K on my 2012 A/T sport with no issues. keep us updated and I hope the dealer takes care of you. |
Thanks to you both.
I forgot to mention in my post that I scheduled an appointment for Tuesday. |
Best case scenario is they will have to replace the trans. There might be a defect in the transmission casing so Honda should be all over this before a recall.
|
I'm sure they will get it taken care of.Tell them It's a Honda not a Harley :)
|
thats shitty, let us know how it works out with the dealer
|
Just got the car back from the Honda dealer. The leak seems to be caused by a hairline crack in the transmission case. The transmission will have to be replaced. This will be covered by the warranty, of course.
The swap will probably happen next week. |
I'm glad to see the dealer taking care of the transmission for you.
They should give you a CRZ loaner untill it's fixed:) |

They should give you a CRZ loaner untill it's fixed:) I won't be getting a loaner. I can still drive it around until they get all the parts, and the mechanic said he can do it in one day. Seems a tad ambitious to me. :popc: |

The swap will probably happen next week. I would ask for a loaner even though its a day job. For something this big I would demand one for your inconvenience. |

I'd ask for a loaner so that the Tech doesn't get pressured, trying to do it in a day!

The transmission is now at the dealer. It will be installed on Wednesday.
I feel like I am taking my 2 year old to the hospital for surgery :( |

Well, the car is at the dealer now. I can't imagine they will be able to swap the new trans in with the less than 8 hours they now have before I get out of work...
|
Well they got the job done in about 5 and a half hours. The cars works fine. When it cools down I am going to go have a look at the new transmission. It occurred to me that I never asked them if it would be new or re-manufactured.

hope everythign comes out great
|
Hey glad it worked out :) Frustrating to happen in a new car. Not a common event as far as I know for Hondas, but it's for reasons like this there is a warranty ..
