Screw collars for Fit's front under chassis brace
9 Attachment(s)
Problem:
The Beatrush front subframe brace has 16mm holes for attachment, whilst the screws are 14mm diameter. I understand there needs to be some room for tolerance issues as not all cars have attachment holes at the exact point. However I feel that this tolerance defeats the purpose of bracing in the first place, as you are attaching a supporting structure with a weak attachment point. Solution: So having installed the Spoon Rigid Collar, I used the concept of shimming out manufacturing tolerance space with alloy collars. After careful measurement of dimensions, the collars were lathed out of 7075 T6 Aluminum Alloy. Attachment 11254 2 out of 4 of the collars have off center collars lathed Attachment 11255 Attachment 11256 The collars inserted into predetermined chassis brace slots Attachment 11257 Attachment 11258 Attachment 11259 Attachment 11260 Attachment 11261 And finally installed with extended screws for extra thread bite after shimming Attachment 11262 Click for large pic https://farm1.staticflickr.com/290/1...408015e4_h.jpg Click for large pic https://farm1.staticflickr.com/517/1...6f762ef9_h.jpg Before installing the underbrace, the car would flex and the interior dashboard area would creak going on steep circular ramps in parking complexes. The front chassis felt substantially more rigid when the Beatrush under brace was first installed, however there were still some flex and interior would still creak(albeit much reduced) when going on a steep circular ramps. These underbrace collars totally eliminated the interior dashboard creak, the Fit chassis just feel solid going up the same parking lot ramps. Thanks for reading! Let me know if there are any questions. |
Very impressive work. You should send this write up to Beatrush, so that they can improve on their product. I'm sure they would love to see this.

one more reason I would love to have a lathe.
