Stock Nav or Aftermarket in 2009 Base Model
 

Had my 09 Fit and lovin' it but thinking of a radio upgrade. I was hoping to get something with built-in navigation instead of having to have a separate GPS unit. Though only a wish list item, it would be nice to have bluetooth for the phone built-in, too.

Has anybody put in the stock Honda navi radio into a base model fit? I know you'd need to get the new bezel, GPS antenna and harnes but is there anything else? I sort of like the real buttons on the stock navi and not having a full touch screen like on some aftermarket radios but if there are better radios out there I'd like to hear from those who have made the plunge on this.

While not a necessary thing for me I was also toying with getting the audio controls to retrofit to the steering wheel but I could only see this being needed if the volume control is only a touchscreen and not a real knob or button.

So, nobody has replaced the regular stock radio in their Fit? I would have thought one person might have done so considering how long this model has been out.

I'd say upgrade to the latest and greatest technology radio. I have a 13' sport navigation and am now slightly looking at aftermarket. Today you get decks with Android Auto and Apple equivalent with apps, DVD, and etc. I'm looking at Kenwood because they have units that works with Bluetooth, stock USB/Aus, and stock navigation steering wheel buttons. .

@Desmond: Thanks for the your insightful response. The only thing that steered me toward the OEM Honda unit was the fact that there are real buttons on it. I'd either have to bet bifocals or pull over if all the buttons on something more flashy, like an Android-powered head unit, were all touch screen buttons. Having actual buttons were something that I considered a plus, along with the fact I sometimes work in areas where a newer fancy radio would be a temptation to a would-be thief.

That being said, I was hoping to hear from others who have replaced their radios and provide both pros and cons with what they ended up with.
