YouTube vid of my Fit on the Dragon!
The road is amazing, we'd love to have you out with us Don, we've never had someone come from west of the Mississippi come out with us....yet
Try and come out with us, the 2nd weekend of October, that's when our well organized run is every year. The cabins are cheap and we're well taken care of there by the staff, southern hospitality at its best!

Really looks fun tho, great video! I like how it's not bumpy or noisy like most other car driving videos, very good job.
If I find myself stationed back east, this is way up there on my list of roads to ride. I've ridden the "Little Dragon of California" (Highway 49 outside of Mariposa, CA - no, that is not my video). Might even take a car on it just for giggles!
Cali is full of crazy twisty roads like that... videos of Deals Gap show me that being stationed in the southeast again wouldn't be complete riding (and driving) purgatory.

JJ, that's a great pic of your ride for sure, and did you guys notice his rear brakes on the GD....can't wait till someone comes up with that solution for the GE's

All are welcomed out but someone posted about carrying a gun though and I'm all about rights but in our run the biker who was run off the road was chased down by the biker and was given the throat slash gesture and IMO that DID NOT WARRENT the need to pull out your handgun and unlock it. I don't wanna go any further than that because it caused quite a stir on the other site I'm, so just consider the situation and hopefully you understand my stand on this, thanks!
In closing, this was someone that noone knew and was a very isolated incident and isn't what our run has been all about since 2003.
We live 3 hours away from The Dragon and go up there frequently. There are so many roads in the area besides The Dragon that are fun to drive.
We will try and join the group on the 2nd weekend of Oct. 2011. I am willing to lead a group on a drive through the twisties with a stop for lunch.
There is a 8th gen Civic group that we've met with at the Dragon the last five years and that's always fun.
Where does everybody stay? Fontana Village?
Tapoco Lodge has been purchased and is going to reopen next year so, that will be an option.

Klasse Act. You are totally correct. There is a right to bear arms. Unfortunately as you witnessed some people should not have that right. It is actions such as that which the opponents of control will use to take our rights away. I am a police officer with 18 years experience in a very high crime rate city. And in 18 years I think I have only taken one gun from a legal proper owner and that was because he was in a car accident and not conscious. Trust me when I say there are plenty of people out there that should not be carrying a handgun or any type of weapon, and generally that is why I carry mine.
Some of these same ideas hold true for riding the dragon. Be responsible and be safe and don't get out of control. The dragon has eaten up many a rider of the years and the vast majority were pushing it too hard or trying to do something they shouldn't. Beware of the crotch rocket maniacs that are trying to beat a time for riding it. They won't be watching for you. You must watch for them.

I'm in for 2011
Dude, that's about 3 hours from where I live! I could easily make a day trip out of it for sure. There are many, many unknown routes like this around north GA where I live, and it makes modding a Fit a lot of fun. I'd love to add one more to the list, even if I have to pass about 3 hours worth of other nice twisties to get there! Keep me on line for the invite...

Early spring maybe?
Let's keep in touch and work something out for a sunny day after the new year. In the mean time, maybe we can grab some Mexican at La Parrilla in Oakwood or something...
Jim2BFit, your going to love the K&N typhoon, not only will you feel the difference but you'll hear the difference too. I've had mine on for over 13k w/o a problem and I've cleaned it twice already. Its very easy to get the filter out of the area where it sits too, don't believe what's been posted about that, its untrue, trust me.
Now, someone asked about where we stay, well, we've stayed in Tellico Plains Tennessee for all of our runs since 2003. The place is here Caney Creek Village in Tellico Plains, Tennessee Its located 3.5 miles from where the Cherahola Skyway starts, so its perfect. The Cherahola is another "one of those roads in the area" that was mentioned earlier. I must say that route 28 aka "Moonshiners" road which is right at Deal's Gap was a HUGE hit with our group this year and I know this for sure, we're going to be exploring that road past Robinsville which is where we picked it up this year.
Waross, I really hope you show up to our run next year, not that I expect another problem but rather to openly talk about this infront of some of our "misguided" members who thought it was a good idea for someone in our group to have a gun to keep us safe. These guys even went into various scenario's to justify the action of this guy, unbelievable. I'm not a gun owner and have NO desire to be one, that's my right for sure and again, I believe in everyone's right to own one but its too bad this happened. I'm not blaming the size of our group which was 26 cars this year, but rather a rouge individual who did apologize for his actions and blew out of town that day, literally. I did go overboard calling him out on the 2 forums and surprisingly he had support, I couldn't believe it. I'm from Detroit originally and even with that, I've never felt I needed a gun for protection from any "crazies", I just don't put myself into those situations and yeah, I know you get thrown into those situations sometimes and to that I say this....oh well, deal with it when it comes.
Sorry about all that and I hope it doesn't discourage anyone from coming out with us next year. The Fit is any awesome car for this road, small, light weight and not alot of power, so it keeps you out of trouble for sure. I bet a blown Fit would be even more fun and about the max for that car out there
In closing its never too early to start planning for this, trust me and right now the seed is being planted for our 2011 Fall Dragon Run, right here, right now
