yea i see that motor...cant wait to see it finished!

which route did you use to space your wheels?

i ordered a set of 15mm bolt ons for the rear of my car after much debate. i really wanted to do 10mm in the rear, but didnt feel like dealing with pressing the studs out of a new set of rear hubs. was thinking of just investing in a cheap harbor freight hydraulic press, but ill probably never use it again after doing rear studs lol.

I used ichiba bolt ons too. If /when I do rear brakes, I’d have to press studs in again. I’ve been told many times that hub centric bolt ons are safe.

Engine parts are almost all acquired. I’ll be doing the swap in SoCal, looking forward to the trip down again.

yea i think the hubcentric bolt ons are fine, mostly if not tracking the car. with the hubcentric they are centered and the weight of the car is distributed evenly to the studs and hub. also i believe having grade 8 studs is important. I had a set (of ebay ones) on the rear of my scion xa for 5-6 years with no issues other than the last time I went to take them off i had to use a nut extractor on 2 of the nuts because i rounded them. totally my fault as i couldnt find my deep metric socket and i think i used an SAE. thats what i get for being lazy and impatient. and stupid.

Yeah definitely can’t mix sae and metric with anything high torque. I’ve learned that the hard way too.

looks sick. my favorite car on this site so far.

what suspension u running? have you experienced any issues riding that low? for example in my xa, anything lower than 3 inches turned into a problem as the axles rub and push off the power steering belt. have only had my Fit a couple of months, but the Fits seem a bit more friendly in the terms of chassis clearance, with the main issue being fender clearance.

i would be so tempted to ride that low, but would die if i tore up that front bumper. i remember on my civic i had the jdm front lip. had my coils on full drop...and after about a year, one day i wasnt paying attention and pulled forward on a curb instead of reversing. ripped off the lip and also tore my bumper. damn i was pissed.

im assuming the answer is no, but do the jdm headlights fit the U.S. front end?

I'm on air ride. so I actually ride a lot higher when I actually drive. the tires touch the fender liners at the lowest height, so its only for show. I would never actually drive that low as I would hate myself if I damaged all the Jdm parts lol.

the JDM headlights are as different shape, except for the pre mmc (Zenki) ones. the 2.5 gen ones that I have require a JDM front

First read through of your build thread. What an amazing transformation. Can not wait to see how the engine project goes for you!

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. I’ll try to keep a detailed log of the engine project once it gets going.

Man Im slacking on this thread. I don't really go on FF anymore, but here are a few updates:

Mainly that the engine swap is finally completely done and fully functional, no codes or loss of OEM functionality whatsoever. Its like it came from the factory that way.

Also, I added a few small details like the mugen rear logo and the mugen rear view mirror cover as it only seemed fitting.

Car is a touch lower following a few minor fender adjustments. New fitment setup is in the works to get the best stance.

BBK maybe next year too!

Hope you enjoy!

I actually did it slightly differently. I attached the lip while the bumper was still off so I could bring it inside and let the tape cure in the warmth. If I did it outside, the strength of the tape bond would be compromised. Actually made it easier because I could prop up the bumper and reach bolting points easily rather than crawling around under the car.

Anyway... On to the pics!

awesome glad to see it’s still out there! I have the fit still and am working on more slowly these days(hopefully that changes soon). I don’t post here much or ig anymore, but I’ll be sure to add the big updates when they happen.

Hey Connor just wanted to let you know I'm checking out your Auto climate thread for inspiration. Such a great idea. Do you need to do anything with the HDS?
