BlackUp's GE pic and progress thread

This is my daily driver, purchased in December 2011. I have driven almost 90k miles combined in my stock GE Fits but now I'm ready to make some cosmetic and performance changes and see where it goes. I'm mainly looking at handling improvements.

Here is my ride bone stock except 27% tint which was installed at the dealer before I picked it up. Some of you have already seen a few of these photos.

I just recently decided to remove these:

I added an older Thule roof rack which I got for a STEAL off craigslist and bought the fairing and clips new. I need to carry some big ass kayaks and this rack has been absolutely bombproof.

Although I actually like the stock rims, I found a set of BBS R90 and figured I'd try them out.

Yeah it's dirty!!! I spent the weekend at Folley Beach Island Atlantic-style. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.

They are 17" and wrapped in Pirelli eufori@ (205/45) run-flats. I'll be swapping 2 of the tires out because of low tread very soon.

The guy I bought them from said that they were off Dale Earnhardt Jr's Mini

Next up:
1) BBS Center caps. The OEM Honda caps are a bit too large to fit the R90.
2) Coilovers. Thinking Bilstein or Koni.
3) I'll be moving away from the run-flats when the tread is done for. Thinking a set of General G-MAX AS-03

nice... but definitely needs a drop. can't go wrong with your coilover choices. also, are the bbs 17x7? if so... I'd suggest you go 195/45. it's the closet you can get to stock rolling diameter.

Yep they are 17x7.

I agree it's desirable to reproduce stock circumference but 195/45-17 = terrible tire selection... unless you want Yokohama S Drives. Nothing against them but...

205/45-17 is 1% larger circumference than stock
195/45-17 is 0.3% smaller circumference than stock

IMO, the difference between the two is small enough to decide based on tire choice.

you will love the General Gmax's! I have almost 10,000 miles on mine and no wear. handle great in all conditions. All of my friends bought they because they liked them soo much after being in my car lol

You are in for a real treat once you upgrade the suspension.
I just had Swift springs and Progress RSB installed yesterday on my 2012 sport.

The handling is night and day difference compared to stock.I'm running the stock rims with 205/50/16 Kuhmo Ecsta 4X and they have plenty of grip.

I know you can go much lower with coils but you will be hard pressed to out handle a otherwise equal Fit with my combo and a sticky tire.

Your car looks real sharp and like I said just wait until you lower it.

here's a crappy cell pic I took today

Looking good there and congrats on the crazy deal you got on those tires. The Ecsta 4x are one of the tires I'm considering. Post some pics of you ride! The stock rims look great with that drop.

Will-do. Thinking of going to IA but unsure at this point. If the weather is crap then definitely not.

You going?

I will get some better pics up some day lol

It's funny how there are so many better tire choices that cost less then the stock Dunlops.I could easily run a summer tire year round here in Cali but I love the Kuhmo 4X

I see Eibach has coilovers coming soon for the GE Fit.They are just like the CRZ but I believe have a different spring rate.

Ooo..nice, another GE with R90. Just a heads up, BBS cap isn't compatible with Mini rims. The prongs are totally different. Let me know if you get it to work!

Whats up inkster? You inspired me to find a set of R90 because they look so damn sexy on your ride!

Yeah it's a bummer about the caps isn't it? I decided I would pry the logo off the mini caps and buy a set of BBS resin stickers to replace them. I have a set on order from Thailand which was only 19$ shipped.

I'll post another pic when they get here but it's gonna be a couple more weeks.

Pretty good! I think I'll keep my MINI emblem to get the OMG/WTF reaction from people.
btw, you might want a camber kit if you plan on doing an aggressive drop.

Let me know! Also, I have a Honda rear privacy shelf just sitting... if you want it, it's yours. I'm down for a photo-shoot sometime as well. My camera is pretty crappy compared to all the new DSLRs but it's workable. If you have a good one and/or a tripod bring it along.

Yeah man, I always thought about getting one but never did for some reason. as far as the photo shoot goes, I do have a tripod. Know of any decent places in Columbia to take some pics?
