Badwrench's 11' GE8

I figured it was about time I put together a build log.

Said GE8 was purchased new from Honda Carlsbad (So. Cal.) brand new. I wanted a manual, but there were none in SoCal at the time due to the flooding in Japan. Only one was a red base, and I wanted sport. Settled on the showroom model. ASM Sport Auto.

Before I start, here is my previous ride: 2006 Tacoma - 4cyl 5sp. I wanted to keep it, but gas was just too expensive.

On to the Fit.

Couple weeks later I installed my Teins:

Ditched the stock muffler for a straight pipe (still have the midpipe resonator) and put on a tow hitch:

Put on some Rota Subzeros, but only for a couple days as one was too bent, so I returned them. Previous owner had never mounted them, so he was cool accepting them back.

I put some Di-noc over the mini logos, but want to put some silver vinyl and red "H" logos in the center. Should look better.

I have mixed feelings on the center caps. Gonna try the silver center and see then.

For the exhaust clip, you can check out the thread in the GE exhaust section. There are a few different clips on there.

It tows really well. I plan on moving the tire chock up about another 1-2 inches to get more weight on the hitch. It is just barely tongue weighted currently and tries to pull up on the hitch when you hit bumps. Other than that, I can barely tell it is there. Around town you forget it's there until you look in the rear view. I cruise on the fwy at 70 without a problem, even up hill (drop to 4th and let it spin).

Simple and clean, wheels ended up looking nice/low key.

What visors are those? I like how low they come down on the window.

Thanks. That is exactly what I was going for.

Visors are the Factory Honda units. My car was the showroom model and came with all the goodies.

Ah, makes sense that they'd look like quality pieces then, thanks. Gonna keep an eye out for sales on them online.

Pull and roll the fenders? I was looking at 17x7.5 et45 the 40 offset looks even with the edge of the wheel well.

Pulled the front, but not rolled. Hit some big dips today and no rubbing. Rear fenders are stock.

I have no idea. The only casting in the back is a +40. I measured the wheels at 7.5" wide (bead to bead). I don't believe that they are the ALT or Miro's as those are both only 4x100, while mine are 4x100 and 4x114. Also, mine have metal bolts while the Miro's have plastic rivets. The center caps are real BBS as well as the valve caps.

I had already pulled them a little bit before to clear the 205/50 tires on the stock wheels. Only went maybe a 1/4 to 1/2 inch more.

Finally some changes. Added some Tanabe Sustec Pro coilovers to replace my Teins with blown stock shocks. Put it just a touch lower than the Teins since I drive 80+ miles per day.

Got tired of the 17s so I traded them for some 16s with 205/45 tires. Much better ride. Tires are smaller than stock, but within 1% of the 205/40-17 that I had on there.

I will probably add a 5mm spacer in the rear to pull them out just a little in the future.
