Tasteful or Rice???
 

Had an idea for an led drl to follow the lines of the OEM front bumper. So far I haven't seen any other ge8 with this (correct me if I'm wrong) so I wanted it to be tasteful and not really noticeable when they are turned off....Came out pretty well Imo but let me know what ya think??

reminds me of the j's racing honda fit's led's. same spot, there's was horizontal instead of vert like yours. i likes.

I usually find them trashy but you did a great job.

I'm not a fan of extra lights on cars other than OEM fogs but it looks like you did a good job lining these up

Thanks! Wiring the fogs was interesting but ended up pretty simple.
1. I took a 12 gauge wire and hooked it straight to the battery.
2. then I took a multimeter to figure out where I can tap the fogs, this was the hardest part. The fogs have a 12v wire each but will join into 1 wire eventually. The wire your looking for is green and I found that the best the best place to tap it is on the driver side just up and behind the battery, it is in a fairly large loom with other wires. (There are lots of green wires in this harness so be sure to test with a multimeter).
3. Now you need a second person to come and switch the fogs on with the headlight stalk so you can test to see which green wire gets 12v when the switch is turned on
4. Once you find the wire tap into it (DONT USE T-TAPS OR SCOTCH LOCKS!) either solder or splice and tape a pretty long wire(I used 12 gauge)
5. Now you take both the 1st wire you did to the battery and the 2nd wire you tapped into the fogs with and run then into the vehicle.
6. Now you just need a basic 2 wire or 3 wire switch to connect them with. And bam your done just like that.
* For 2 wire switch the constant wire hooks into one end and the load which is you fogs will go to the other connecter
*3 wire switch is the same except on of the connectors on the switch needs a ground (this usually for some type of built in led on or in the switch it self.
*keep in mind if using this method your screwed if you forget to turn the switch off, there will be no warning beep or chime so don't forget.
*also don't for to fuse the constant 12v wire that is wired at the battery.

Just for clarity the diy above is for the OEM fogs not the leds. As for the leds it was done the same way but not tied into any factory wire just battery 12v and load (leds) to a switch. Cutting the bumper insert thing and mounting the leds were the hardest part because I didn't feel like removing the bumper. If you remove the bumper than itll be cake. Other than that the install is pretty easy.
I can post pics if anyone has questions on a certain part.

These are really nice as DRLs but I find it a bit much with the fogs at night. It would be badass if you could wire the fogs to turn off the LEDs when you switch em on!

Yeah I agree, I usually have one or the other paired with the main headlights but rarely all three headlights, fogs and leds at the same time. But yeah I have everything thing wired independently so I can select which ever combo I'm feeling at that time lol

as for the independent fogs, on Roger's Fit DIY there was a step to add a diode, as not to leak voltage back, or something along those lines, I guess it's not needed this way?
I did Roger's Fit DIY for the independent fogs years ago, and it was a quick 1 wire connection (with a one-way diode) from the stalk to I believe the fuse, or a diff location.
A few people have asked me to replicate a DIY, which I can probably take pics of when I do some mods coming up.

I actually think they look AWESOME!! I was thinking of getting DRL's in this same position as well. I think some fords or hyundai's COME with drl's that look like this. So in my opinion, it looks OEM to me.

by the way - where did you get these lights? and do they come with a wire input that turns them off when your highbeams are on?

I got em at a local pepboys, but any kind will work, If you use the same mounting location as I did you can only fit no bigger than a 6 inch led there. And as for the wiring it just comes with basic wiring just like that of normal fogs. I have mine on their own switch so I can turn them off and on whenever I want
