marmaladedad's 2011 Honda Fit

Greetings Fit fans! I bought this 2011 with a buttload of miles (150k), but it still drives like a charm. I use it for commuting (60 miles roundtrip). Previously had an Audi A3 that had some tuning done to it until a drunk driver ran in to the A3, totaling it. I have always wanted a Fit, so I figured this was the universe's sign. So far, I am head over heels in love with this car. It swallows up all my junk just like my minivan does, except it is a lot more frugal at the pump.

The car was bone stock when I bought it and I assumed I would leave it as such. Unfortunately, it seems bad habits die hard. Modifications ensued. Nothing too extreme, just small things.

At any rate, this is a picture thread, so on with it....

The first day I bought it:

JDM tail lights installed today:

A trailer hitch is going on next for my hitch bike-rack (also have a roof rack on top). I just need to find time to install it.

interesting volkswagen hubs

marmaladedad Mar 13, 2018 09:34 PM

Not my first choice for hubcaps, but the steelies underneath look worse.

I was going to pull the covers off and try for the black-car, black-steel-wheels look, but mine were splotchy brown and black.

As an avid, pro-recreational cyclist, I have a thing for bikes. My minivan could swallow bikes in almost any position, but the Fit requires a bit more careful placement. Besides the roof rack carriers, I can keep my babies safe and dry inside.

Unfortunately the rear wheel is right against my elbow, so my in-car-dance moves are limited.

I'm surprised at how much stuff you can cram in the fit with the seats down.

I too am quite amazed. I was able to raise the smaller rear seat with the bicycle in place, so one of my kids can sit next to one of my two-wheeled kids.

Hitch went on a few weeks ago. Here is a picture of it with my dirty car.

With the 1UpUsa bike rack. I love this rack. It is well-made, made in America, and looks unlike anything else. I have add-ons that expand my carrying capacity to three.

And lastly, with a bike sitting on the rack (one of the rack's arms is down, just for the picture, not how I carry the bicycle).

Hahaha, yeah, I can theoretically carry more bicycles (seven) than people (five). Roof rack has since been removed simply because I do not usually carry that many bikes.

The kids do not like the Fit - they are not used to living without A/C vents in the second row. Kids these days!!

So I went ghetto-fabulous with some eBay/Amazon black steel wheel covers, rather than actually buying a set of aftermarket wheels. I tell myself this is a litmus test to see if I would like having black/dark wheels on a black car, but this is probably the end of the line for my wheel "upgrade."

Also could not resist getting the Beat Sonic shark fin antenna. I am usually on the flash drive / USB connection; the FM/AM reception seems neither better nor worse.

If only! Bike parts and upcoming birthday parties for the kids take priority. Maybe it is time for not-so-subtle hints to the wife for Christmas.

Thanks!

What hitch do you have? I'm in the same boat; lots of cycling, but not a big fan of lying the bike down in the cargo area. Knocks the wheels around too much. Would love a hitch rack.
