Bolt on the shock keeps spinning

I recently lowered my car on swift springs using the stocks shocks and when it was time to install them back, the bolt that holds down the springs on the shocks just keep on spinning away. I know that there is a black piece right under it that has bearings inside, could it be that this is spinning the bolt and not really tightening the springs down?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I believe you need a pneumatic gun to turn it fast enough to tighten, if you are using a pneumatic gun and it still spins you might need a new put an allen (sp) in the top of the strut and use a wrench to tighten that nut

hope we are talking about the same thing

We used an impact drill from what I remembered and it just kept spinning. We tried using a wrench but without an allen key.
It might be that we didn't use an allen key to hold it down from moving around.

Thanks!

Just to be specific and avoid confusion, I am referring to number 20 on this diagram and not 18.

are the springs compressed when you are doing this?

the swift springs are slightly compressed from the nut being tightened but not compressed with a spring compressor tool.

The main reason why I am asking is because I am afraid it might have loosened itself but steering is straight and it turns normally. I just hear this popping noise AFTER a speed bump.
BUT I am thinking now that it is something else, like a the swaybar endlink because I felt this vibration and noise after going through a steep speed bump that traveled from the center of the car to the passenger side (where the noise is coming from). Possibly that the sway bar is binding.

yes. All those where installed correctly. I also made sure they weren’t loose at all miles after driving around.

The noise is like a very rubbery almost hollow popping noise. Almost the sound when you hit a pothole very fast when going normal speed on a speed bump.

I am assuming it is the endlink because of the prior reason when I felt the vibration from under traveling from the centee of the car to the passenger side.

have a friend slide down the dust cover, and grip the shaft

using an impact gun, spin the crap out of bolt 20

(compress the springs, if needed)
