2008 Sport, keep 15's or go 16's?
Should I go with 16 inch wheels? I have a new to me 08 fit sport, that came with the 15 inch alloy wheels. I need to get a winter set of wheels ASAP have as it's already snowed in Montana. What I can't decide is if I should get 15 inch snow wheels on the stockroom and then get 16 inch Wheels for my all seasons. Is there a lot of value besides aesthetics to go 16 inch wheels?
If I do go with 16s, what's the best width/offset/tire size for everyday use? I don't want to beat a dead horse ever read a lot of the other 15 inch/16 inch thread, but I'd really like some fresh opinions. Thanks.Peet |
Do 16 but put winter tires on the 15. Do wheels like Rota. They are lighter weight than stock. Less unsprung weight means more power going to the ground. Light wheels make a huge difference when accelerating. Very noticeable.

Sorry, I should have said the 15's that it came with are smooth as Captain Picard's head. I think my mind's made up, 15 inch winter tires on the stock wheels. And 16's in the spring. Even if I go with the most expensive 16" rims that I'm interested in at tirerack, the total extra to goto 16" wheels and rims is only around $325/$360 more than winter tires on steel rims and new all seasons for the the stock 15's.
Not free by any means, but I'm planning on driving this car for as many years as it runs. |
Just a heads up, 16" tire selection sucks for 2008 Fits.

This maybe true from TireRack.com but there are other sites like Wheeldude.com where I buy my rotas. Now heres the thing. why not buy 16in rotas that are 450 to 550. This is a 7 yo car economy car worth under 10k. Dont go All Out like I would with my s2000 or Acura CL-S 6spd and buy 2400.00 Volk Racing rims when I can purchase the copies from Rota. You'll love them. I bought a EG Civic Coupe. I wanted Volk TE-37's but not paying that on a very modded 95 Civic EX w/ ABS bought for 7k bux. Those rims would be about 20 percent of the car worth. That's crazy. So rota just released TE-37 copies (back in 2004) called Rota Grids for 600 shipped.
