I want a new exhaust setup. But there's a problem...
 

So, I own a 2016 Honda Fit Ex... with the CVT. I've been wanting to upgrade the Fit's quiet exhaust for a while now, but all the exhaust systems I've found (catback, axleback, etc.) only fit models with the manual transmission. I've checked under my Fit, and the stock exhaust looks pretty normal to me. Is there any substantial differences between the manual and CVT equipped Fit exhausts that I don't know about?

And, for those of you who may own a CVT Fit as well, have y'all found any exhaust setups for your Fit? Or do I have to make one myself? Thanks!

I have a 2018 Fit Sport CVT and I have used multiple mufflers with no issues. The trans has nothing to do with anything. Currently my stock muffler is back on and I'm waiting for my HKS exhaust to get made.

Do you know of any mufflers/exhaust setups I can buy online? I was hoping it would be a bolt-on process.

Any of the exhausts will fit. The exhaust companies (and even Honda with their sport exhaust) just say manual only so they aren't held responsible for the drone sound caused when you put exhaust on a CVT vehicle.

The sound drone is the exact same cvt vs manual. That doesn't effect anything. lol

Drone probably sounds worse in the manual because of the higher rpms it runs versus the cvt.

i think the only issue are with the sport models. The exhaust have seems to be different and some slight modifications need to be made.

It's the opposite. With a manual, if you are at an rpm with a drone, you downshift of upshift. Plus, when accelerating, you are going up and down in rpm. With a CVT, it's possible to stick at one rpm from 10mph all the way to 60mph and encounter the drone.

You can believe me or not, but that's the reason why Honda chose to say manual only on their sport exhaust.

Um where does it say that? First off there is no aftermarket sport exhaust. Second off why would Honda say that and in what context? Because they do make Sport's in CVT so your comment makes zero sense. The exhaust drone is the same CVT vs manual trans. The engine or muffler noise doesn't change one bit. I know because I have both cars sitting in my driveway and they sound the exact same. lol

Did you read the article I posted? Drone is not the same as tone. A manual and CVT car has the exact same exhaust sound just as you noted. However, the CVT car can have drone due to staying at one rpm for extended periods. Some people notice it and some don't.

Even my Dad's CR-V with a CVT has drone and it's annoying as heck. A louder exhaust would make it worse.

Drone can be loud at specific rpm. When I installed my RV6 pipe, it had a horrible sound at 3500 rpm. While waiting for an exhaust I drove differently to try and keep out of that range as much as possible. I don't know what rpm the CVT likes to stay at, but if I was stuck at 3500 rpm with that downpipe, I would have taken it off immediately.

Hi new member here. I recently installed an HKS Hi-Power exhaust on my 2016 Fit with CVT Trans. I haven't had any serious issues with drone. And in fact, I am very happy with the new exhaust on my otherwise stock Fit. The droning isn't an issue for me because my Fit usually cruises between 1000-2000 RPM (depending on how fast I'm going of course). Sometimes I do get a droney note when I accelerate slowly, but I don't really see it as an issue. In fact, when I accelerate quickly, my Fit just sounds freaking awesome with the new exhaust. Especially in Sports mode with the paddle shifters. I love the loudness added by the new exhaust but whenever I don't want the extra volume, I just finesse the gas pedal a little bit and volume becomes pretty negligible in most situations.

Looking to get the HKS as well but I need some clarification. I'm puzzled cause the HKS site says it wont fit with the Mugen rear diffuser but they have one in the video. So will it really fit or not ?

The HKS pictured above only fits the US spec Sport. Not any other market vehicles or trim levels.

Well I did some research and got the JDM spec one from eBay. The ones I saw on US sites, I realized the mounting arms were set in a different direction.
I'm more than happy with the results though =DGetting in the 140's on the Dyno too
