Testing waters on potenial group by for 'Cold Air Scoop'
What's up! So I stumbled upon a distributor for a really cool mod for our GK5s. Since it seems that all the aftermarket intake systems don't benefit much, this simple bolt on may provide the 'cold air' intake we've been looking for!

Update:
So I have 2 units being produced as we speak and I should have them in my hands by mid this month (8/15). So more background on the part, its manufactured at a molding injection company in Taiwan. Will take 5 days to get to my distributer in Singapore and another week or so to get to me. So if everything goes as planned and I am satisfied with the product, ill share the results and we can proceed with a 10 qty group buy for those interested. The cost to you would be around $150-160 shipped. Break down of cost includes mfg cost+air freight to USA, shipping and handling fees as I will provide individual packaging and ship USPS priority.

150-160 for an injection molded air funnel?
I understand there's a lot of shipping/handling involved, but for that price Fit drivers can get any number of mods that are more likely to produce noticeable benefits.
I sincerely hope it does what it's intended to, but unless they can produce and distribute this product more efficiently, I'm not interested.

Test Plan:
-Dyno run with stock intake
-Dyno run with scoop and K&N drop in filter

What can you get for that price that actually gives a power gain? The exhausts I've seen all cost at least $300, the RV6 downpipe without cat is $330, the HPS cold air intake is over $200 and the short ram pulls hot air from the engine bay. Whether this setup gains power remains to be seen, but if it works it might not be such a bad deal.
Unless you mean benefits aside from horsepower, then I'm with you.

And they are here:
From what people overseas have been claiming is that the air duct yields better Fuel Efficiency by atleast 10-20%. I shall see.
I have one more sample if someone is interested in it before we go with the group by. Im going to have to negotiate some prices now. From what someone had mentioned earlier, the initial price for this simple design/material of this piece is pretty pricy.
Cheers

So far these have been my observations:
1) ordered 2 pieces, both fit perfectly. I will make DIY instructions to install in seperate thread.
2) i noticed intake temp about 5-15 degrees colder on highway speeds
3) At steady 65mph, half tank of gas, no passengers or load, i can get 40-41 mpg. With the air duct, I managed to hit up to 46mpg on the same freeway (i580) after 20mins of driving
4) Throttle response is improved, can tell in the power gears (2nd and 4th).
5) Gains in HP/TQ feel minimal, i wont be able to tell w/o dyno. I dont think there is a need to. With a more free flowing exhaust, and the catless dp, i think most of the additional power will be unlocked there, not so much on the intake side unless you consider throttle body+injector upgrades.
6) i dont think id be concerned at all with using this in the rain. If you look at the picture with the bottom portion of the duct showing, u can see water can drain thru there, also was confirmed by users overseas. Its very easy to swap back to the oem duct if need be (takes less than 5 mins).
This is just day 1. I'll continue to record my observations and map some data charts together with my dash command app.
Overall, I think this simple mod coupled with high performance filter is better than most (if not all) aftermarket intake kits. It acts as a true ram air intake. For the price of this piece and a K&N drop in filter would run you $180. Thats still cheaper than most intake kits. Also note, ive blocked off the resonator piping and hole on the bottom portion of the air box for maxumum flow.
I have a second unit i am done testing with that I can sell to anyone interested. Otherwise, now i am taking serious interests so i can put an order down for 10pcs.
I gopro'd my high speed test that ill upload and share with everyone.
Open to critique!
