Hood garnish removal for back to black restore?
Has anyone removed the black plastic hood garnish and restored it with Mother's Back to Black?
Is it easy to remove and replace this item? is there a illustrated parts breakdown or process to uninstalling the garnish? Thanks |

I am pretty sure back to black or a simple polish would do the job. illustration: https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/3rd-...od#post1406193 (STICKY threads are your friend) |

I find it amazing how fast that piece starts to fade. I bought my fit in April of 17 and it was already faded as of this past April. I tried the back to black but it didn't come out so good, I am not sure if I used too much or not enough but you can still see the swirl marks and it looks splotchy

kudo's, I see you printed out the PDF file attached to the sticky thread =)

yes, thanks for the instructions .... it was quite easy .... once i cleaned the painted metal hood area under it, i waxed the hood there to help keep it clean and prevent rust.
The ganish is held on by two outer screws (accessed under the hood, 8mm socket) and a few clips that release as you pull it up off the hood. I used the Mother's brand of Back to Black ... see how long it last .... |
