LED fog cover DRL

been browsing around i don't believe we have the option at all
so.. i want to modify something to fit to make something similar to the RS model in JAPAN.
I think the fog cover would be perfect area to retro fit a stripe of LED
any body have any idea on type of LED i should look for?
i took measure it's about 5" in length.

or maybe someone have source to get these fog cover from japan?

Trying to retrofit the RS covers may not work. People in the Hyundai Elantra GT forums were trying to do something similar, and they found that Hyundai added structural reinforcement to the front bumper to comply with safety US standards. So, now there is not enough room to add the LEDs that the Euro version has. As Honda also modified the front bumper, it may not be able to fit the JDM LEDs.

I got the 6 inch xb led strip to do something similar on the fog light shrouds. Originally wanted them for my projector retros, but didn't want them to fail once I bake the headlights back in since they have a rep for that. So I'm gonna put them by the fogs just like the JDM ones.

Do these fit fine with stock fogs after removing the cover?

And also price?

yeah look like if you have fog you can just remove the circle piece and it will be direct bolt on
and for LX owner without fog they can keep the round part and use as a regular cover.

I cannot imagine it be hard to wire in the LED to the DRL on the EX cars already so.. Just need a wire diagram.

Oh man those are what I'd prefer. They're not as bright as xb strips but I'd really like the OEM look. Thanks for the link. I wonder if these are true PNP or need some.mods to the usdm bumper.

From what i see in the pics there is a box that attaches to the original Fog light connector. Seems like pnp.

Wanna be the guinea pig? lol

USDM should look like this ( i saw one with fog light )

Darkshowdo 10-11-2014 04:17 PM

I was under the impression JDM Fogs would fit USDM. Not sure though.

kenji815 10-12-2014 09:01 PM

Yeah looks like usdm fog is larger and oa recessed deeper. So bezel is probably different due to different bumper shape.

Looks like jdm stuff won't fit without mods. Even rottboy had to mod his tailgate a bit to fit the jdm led upper taillights

noripwr 10-22-2014 01:39 AM

Ok bad news guys. It was obvious from the start since ebay is notorious for stuff that don't work, but someone had to take it for the team right?

Those ebay stuff do not fit

Oddly enough the led itself can mount onto the USDM bumper no problems. But the shroud is larger than the USDM shroud and because of that, it isn't able to fit itself into the bumper.

I believe the oem USDM shroud can be cut to accommodate the led but I don't have a spare around so I'll hold off on the mod until I get one.

kenji815 10-22-2014 02:28 AM

spending $100+ for just the led and cutting the stock shroud is pricey mod

Exactly, but that's what you gotta do sometimes when u have ebay stuff laying around. You know, the stuff also notorious for no returns. Ebay stuff have always been a gamble anyway
