Cargo LED -Huge Improvement!

Hey All,

As you may recall in my last post https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/3rd-...bulbs-led.html the LED's I used didn't make a big improvement on brightness for the cargo area, although they were perfect for map, dome, and license plate. Well, I just got this one and its a HUGE improvement. $10 for a single LED was a bit steep but glad I sprang for it as it is much brighter, and has a pretty good build quality to it.

Bulb/LED/Circuit Board/Whatever-you-wanna-call-it used:
Amazon.com: LEDwholesalers T10 Base 10 SMD 5050 LED White Side Pin10-30V DC Bulb, 1438WH: Automotive Amazon.com: LEDwholesalers T10 Base 10 SMD 5050 LED White Side Pin10-30V DC Bulb, 1438WH: Automotive

**UPDATE 9/9/14** -This appears to be identical to the one used on Amazon: https://www.superbrightleds.com/more...edge-base/214/

Before:

After:

Backside of the board. As you can see it fits perfectly. No trimming needed.

Nice work with the "How To", and great photos. An inexpensive, easy to do project with such good results is a no-brainer. My pack of LEDs should be in the mailbox this evening and the larger one for the cargo area is now on order for Wednesday. Thank you!

I actually saw a pic of it installed in the dome light somewhere while looking up LED dome lights on the Fit. So I think it would fit. I got a pair for the trunk and dome light to see how it goes.

Love it, just ordered mine.

Do they dim like the incandescent bulbs?

It fits!! A little too bright for my tastes though so I moved it back to the cargo area.

The smaller ones in the multi-pack that was listed in the first post in this thread is about right for my needs in the cabin area. I was looking for "a bit brighter" but not a lot because that once-in-a-while when a cabin light needs to be on just for a minute at night while driving (passenger drops something and needs to find it, or whatever) super bright is going to be a problem. Perfect, though, for the cargo area where you really want to see very well.

Looks nice. In the cargo area, brigher is better! One mod I've made in my 2008 Fit is to replace the cargo area light with a switched cargo area light. So if I want, I can have the trunk open and the light off. Saves battery, and in some cases, I don't want the light on for other reasons.

I found that the cargo area light module for the Honda Odyssey was a direct drop-in replacement for the Fit, but the Odyssey module has a switch.
