Silver trim removal

I want to paint the silver trim around the air vents, the small silver trim around the A/C & heater controls and the silver rings of the adjustment knobs. Can the trim be removed by gently pulling/prying it out?

I've been wondering about this. 'Any photos of this? Have you painted any other silver bits... like the ones on the door (around the fabric)?
