Upgrades from GK to new GK
 

Anyone in here upgrade from a '15-16 to an '18-19? I'm looking at moving from my blue 2015 6MT LX w/ 58K on it to a 2019 CVT EX. The lack of an actual 6th gear and the stick-shift aren't working for me now that I've moved to flat-land and interstate driving, and adaptive cruise would be heavenly. Also not really interested in a turbo 1.0 or 1.3 that we might get in a year or two, but I could hold on to my current fit and wait for more used inventory or unsold 2019's if that's something that's forecast to happen.

Has anyone else on here done something like this, and if so, how much did the switch cost you? I'm assuming just the upgrade from a 2019 LX 6MT to a 2019 EX CVT would be like $2700 alone, but I'm guessing I'm going to have to fork over another $4-6K in depreciation too? If anyone's got any experience or tips let me know.

I have to admit, the adaptive cruise and lane keep assist are nice. I really thought I would not use it much, but it is nice. I only use the lane keep on the highway. Around town it can be "rude" at times haha.

It can't hurt you to just drop in and talk to the dealer. If you don't like the deal, walk away. I went to two different dealers in two cities to get the deal I really wanted. I wasn't being unreasonable either.

For some reason people have a hard time walking away. It really is not a big deal. As a tip, if you have flawless credit, just tell them you have flawless credit and you want to talk numbers before they pull it. In my experience, they grudgingly do so.

Every good deal I have ever negotiated at a dealership required this [walking away].

When my GD 5MT was totaled three years ago and I needed a quick replacement, I was in the same boat as you. The choice between the 5MT and the CVT was tough, but in the end, I couldn't handle the 5MT top gear, which was pretty short compared to the CVT top gear. That meant the 5MT would be turning higher rpms at highway speeds, adding noise/vibration and lowering mileage. Since I do a lot of long traveling, the CVT was pretty much the only choice.

Taken alone, the 5MT might not be a dealbreaker, but when the newer model adds all the latest safety features, yeah, the older model starts to look dated. And yet, I'll just bet there are plenty of forumites reading this right now who are saying to themselves, hmmm, '15 LX/MT with 58K, I might be interested in that, especially if MT's are hard to come by in your area.

Maybe I should go post it in the for sale section lol... Might get some takers. All my local dealers are pretty bleh, and since VA doesn't do any tax-reduction for trade-ins there's no incentive to even try to bargain with it rather than going the carmax/carvana/craigslist route. Since there are like 7 honda dealers within 100 miles of me though the online "email everyone to see who's got the best price" bit usually works pretty well.
