5 year service visit question.

I've always felt my dealer did honest work at good prices at my last four annual visits (I drive 7k miles a year I a 2015 EX).

Now it's time for my fifth, and, if I read it right, I need a simple A1 service.

However, my dealer said I'll need a transmission flush and an MOC fuel system optimization service since I'm over 30k miles.

I see the former in the manual, but not at 30K, nor does the MM seem to indicate it. As for the latter, isn't that like a bottle of Techron? Nothing in the manual lists it as a service to be performed.

Am I being taken for a ride?

I have never seen anything in the manual (nor the chilton manual) that states our cars need a fuel system service at 30k

I say, bottle of techron .... move on with your life... save that $ ... buy yourself something nice

Assuming you are talking about a CVT, a transmission fluid drain and refill at the 5 year point is not unreasonable. And I do mean a simple drain and refill ($) and not this "flush" ($$) nonsense.

MOC fuel system optimization service? Just more dealer nonsense I assume. If the dealer gets uppity over this ask them to point this out in your owners manual.

There's a difference between manufacturer and dealer suggested maintenance schedules. Guess which makes the dealership more money?

I did the CVT fluid change around 50k when the MM notified.

I've done no fuel treatment and use the cheapest gas that's not top tier. Me last tank was over 44mpg.

if its cvt isnt it every two years?

and also dont flush auto boxes, just drain and refill

Thanks everyone so far. I'm also inclined to wait for the MM to tell me to refill the trans, but my dealer missed the 3 year brake fluid job, and I had to bring it to their attention at year 4. So I may have missed the trans flush indicator on the MM last year.

As for the MOC, I googled it, and there appears to be some value to it. Also, given my car is a very early 2015, an injector inspection and cleaning right before my warranty is up might be good. Oddly, I'm leaning towards this and not the trans change.

Thanks again...keep the comments coming.

After watching a bunch of YouTube videos, I decided to do the MOC fuel service.

While the improved acceleration and sound are anecdotal, the computer is recording 5 to 7 mpg more for my usual trips. I'm glad I did it. Also, hopefully the injectors will last longer since they were cleaned (if they were in trouble to begin with).
