Hi, just bought a used 2015 Fit ... my book and inside gas cap says to use PREMIUM ga

:violin: why does my book say to use premium only on my 2015 fit??

Welcome! Got a pic of the inside gas cap?

Any car these days can run on regular. Performance will suffer on performance cars from the octane hit, but otherwise, running regular is OK. No need to worry, unless you have a performance variant we're not aware of!

Something is off. Fit just needs regular. Got a pic?

carotman 07-09-2019 09:56 AM

Top Tier or premium?

My fit 2015
Gas cap says premium only🧐

Off topic, but kinda in the same vein ….. I am a night-shift nurse....the hospital supplied water jugs - only used for cold beverages - are stamped....on the inside/underside of the lid "warning - contents may be hot" ….. this lid only snaps on one way, and the "warning" is obscured from view.....go figure.....and, yeah, Fit's don't really benefit from premium gas, unless you have a tuner of some sort.

pics of the manual and gas cap .... I gotta see this, to believe it

exl500 07-10-2019 09:44 AM

Is this a US or Canada market car? I seem to recall some other markets requiring premium because regular is lower octane than 87 there.

Fuel requirements for US and Canadian versions of the Fit is exactly the same. Top tier, anything from regular to premium.

Exactly, but not in Mexico, if I recall.

My gas cap and door area have no stickers saying what gas to use. I suspect yours was added on by either the dealer or previous owner.

Not uncommon in mountain areas. At high altitudes engines run at lower compression because there’s less air to compress, making lower octane fuels usable.
