Can't Drive, it won't shift into Drive anymore
 

Yes. Sounds weird. I have a 2015 Hionda Fit LX 204,000 miles

Start the engine, the Shift Knob wont move into any other position
Its stuck

Turn off the engine and I cant pull the key out

Disconnect the battery, the key can be removed OK

Reconnect the battery
Start the engine, and the Knob is still stuck

....

Earlier when I could drive O.K. the alarm started going off randomly
I tried opening and closing the hood and it didn't stop the alarm from going off randomly

Then the Shift Knob would get stuck
Discconnet the Battery
Recconnect
Wait 1 or 2 hours
Start Engine
Then Shift Knob, drive reverse, neurtral O.K

So progressively deteriorated in the above manner

It looks like it's related to the computer that controls the alarm system and transmission. Most likely it's Too expensive to fix. I think it's time for a new car.

I don't have a definitive answer for you or the time to research your problem, but here are some areas to look into.

There is a pin that locks an automatic transmission car into Park. On modern cars the pin is almost certainly engaged/disengaged by a solenoid that is associated with the position of the key. If that solenoid goes bad, or perhaps if your key cylinder is going bad, or if the wiring to either the solenoid or key cylinder is compromised, the Park pin might not engage/disengage as it should. When you disconnect the battery the solenoid may release and allow the pin and gear shift to move.

I've never fully understood the alarm on the Fit. The only time mine has gone off is after I had the battery unhooked (e.g., when I removed the interior to install sound deadening materials) or after my wife ran the battery dead by leaving the lights on. In each case, after battery power was restored the alarm went off each time the door was opened until I could figure out the right button combination on the key fob to stop it (which I can't remember now, but it's available on the Internet). So, it's very possible that your alarm issue has nothing to do with your Park issue and instead comes from repeatedly unhooking the battery.

The tow truck driver showed me the override hole to the right of the shift stick. You take a screwdriver, push it down and it it shifts into any gear.

The FIT can DRIVE, REVERSE, NEUTRAL now, no longer stuck.

I still have to disconnect the battery to remove the key.

So it looks like it's related to some solenoid, electric switch or something, hmm... I'll have to figure that out next ...
