2016 FIT Rear Shocks Replaced/ Still Clanking

*UPDATE 11/13/23*
The shop said the bearing was missing, they replaced it and should be fixed.

I have been following in using this form since we bought our twenty sixteen fit and the resources and information have been great, thank you.

We have a 2016 Honda Fit with a 171,000 miles.
This year we replace the rear shocks. An upper mount on the rear passenger.

The past month the car has been running great, smooth & with no noises.
Recently we are hearing the same clanking from the rear passenger side.
We are at a loss as to what it could be now. Since both were replaced.

Any thoughts/suggestions would be great, thank you.

Not sure what you mean by "an upper male on the rear passenger?"

Regardless, my first step would be to check that all the hardware you removed/reinstalled is properly torqued. You might also check the rear wheel bearings (Youtube videos will show you how; it only takes a couple minutes), although I wouldn't describe a bad bearing as making a clanking sound.

I would also check the exhaust system and hangers to make sure everything is intact and the exhaust isn't rubbing or tapping anywhere.

Finally, check the area where the spare tire lives to make sure there isn't something rolling around down there and making noise.

Thank you for the quick reply.

'Male' - that meant, I can't type...Upper mount

We re-torqued, but didn't check the bearings, thank you!
Trunk - that was the first thing we checked, hoping it was minor.
