Your Parent's/Spouse's first Reaction seeing your new Fit?
I told my mom I was bringing my old Maxima to "get fixed" and came back to tell her to look out the window. After some Chinese phrases of "whaaaat" and "for realz" she sat inside then said "Why so small?" Not exactly what I wanted to hear :violin:

I'm 25 so I didn't need my mom's approval to buy my 2015 Fit but like any good Italian son, I want to make my mom happy lol.
I told her that I wanted to buy it, and she said absolutely not. It wasn't until I took her to the dealer and she saw how nice it was that she said yes. Now she wants one too haha! |
Everyone I have told is just confused. I just sold my modded Hummer H3 so the Fit is about as far as I can go in the other direction. I loved my truck, but I just moved across country and now have a lot more highway driving so I needed something more practical. I used to have a Honda Odyssey that I put about 70,000 miles on during college and lasted me to 220,000 miles. I hope the new Fit is just as reliable.

Our children were horrified when we announced that we were getting a FIT. Their view was that we could never be happy with it, moving from a Caravan (HUGE, seats seven and still has storage) and a RAV4 (sporty, sits high, four wheel drive) to a sub-compact.
One of them researched the FIT and pronounce it safe and economical (we had done THAT already) one was convinced when he saw the car, the other is still not so sure. We don't care what they think, we both love the Honda FIT and our dog loves it too. |
I am 60 plus, so did not need my parent's approval ;)
However my daughter did not believe it was a good idea to buy a new car. I did my due diligence and searched for a used Fit with low miles back in 2010, but there were very few-- the best one I found was only $1000 less than a new one and I could not take advantage of the low dealer interest rate--so bought new. My daughter(a Honda lover) thought I should look at the Insight--I did, but did not like the car. Now 4 1/2 years later she thinks the Fit is a pretty cool car and is even buying me a roof rack for it. :) |

But I wanted a gas sipper and a hatch, and I told her what I wanted so no surprises to her when I showed up with it. When she did see it, her first reaction was "How come u didn't get the yellow one?". Second was "why you buy small car?". Third one when she sat inside and saw the magic seats in action was " wow its so roomy, I gotta call your uncles and have them check it out!" |
Haven't got one yet, but at my age getting parental approval involves a spirit medium and an Ouija board.
My spouse is right on board because if she doesn't say yes the car isn't purchased! |
My parents are gone, but my Dad was a Rambler man, and I can't help but think he'd be impressed with the economy and versatility. Yes, he and I did a few overnight trips where we slept in the Rambler "beds". I'd love to find a 1965 Rambler 660, but I know I'm vastly happier with my Fit.
My partner was on board all along, but frankly he isn't too interested unless it's a Cadillac from the fins era. |

It ran and ran, just poured gas and oil in once in a wile, and took every kind of abuse until my friend ran it over a telephone pole and busted up the front end. |

We also had a 1968 Rebel with a 232 and no power steering. I learned to drive on that car, and the 3 point turn for the driver's test was a bear!

My parents haven't seen it yet, but my dad bought a Subaru Forester XT a few days before I got the Fit and he emailed me with photos of his car. I sent back a photo of the Honda fit when I got it and said we will have to compare our new rides. His response was "I bet you got better gas mileage than me". Lol
My wife went and test drove one before I did. Her response was "I didn't really like it, it felt cheap, and didn't look good." I was still convinced, and when we test drove the second one which was a sport, (the first was not) she said she liked it better, it seemed like a better interior etc. When I came home with the newest one and she finally drove her, her response was "I like it much better, it even has a little pep!" Honestly you just can't beat the room and gas mileage. |
traded in a 12' kia rio, same color, for the 15' fit.
came home to the wife who said "i thought you were getting a new car..." :o https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3921/...49799980_b.jpg |
