Hey Fit Freaks!

Just got my spankin' new 2015...and I'm about to order a curt receiver. Anybody know if there is a trailer light kit for this car? I cannot seem to find one.

Nothin'?

What about the ones for the 2013...any chance the plug-in kit works?

Got it all together. Tows around the block just fine. Has no trouble getting in and out of the yard. Clearance to the curb is a little close...but just have to be careful. Used the universal curt light harness. The vampire clips are a bit of a problem...but other than that it went very well. Converted the trailer lights to LED just to reduce the load a bit....since honda used like 22guage wire for the lights.

Haven't pulled it on the highway yet. Will try that this weekend.

I ordered the same stuff. Curt hitch, universal harness and some tire chains. Etrailer said they are making a plug and play wire harness soon, but nothing yet. the universal harness is what I got too. Not looking forward to the vampire clips either, but it should suffice. LED is the way to go.

Yeah...to get the vampire clips to work on that small gauge wire I had to skin it a bit. The clips just wouldn't cut the insulation.

Be careful with the interior stuff. The adhesive they used sucks. Some of the plastic bits can peel away from the panel really easy. Clips seem to be good quality though.

Adhesive where? On the converter box? Or on the plastic panels?

On the interior. The stuff in the back is like rigid-ized carpet, with plastic panels glued to it for the retaining clips. Not attached very well. Luckily the bit I had come away wasn't all that important.

Ahh that stuff. Thanks for the tip. I'll be conscious of that when disassembling. I bought a plastic panel removal kit from HF the other day, made disassembly a breeze when I installed my heated side mirrors the other day. I admit the cloth material is maybe not as nice as my 2011. That model had the microfiber cloth but everything from dust to dirt stuck to it like a magnet. This cloth while it "feels" cheaper, I think its just as durable and more forgiving when stuff sticks to it.

It will, but if you're referring to ScotchLok connectors you will have intermittant connections a few months or years down the road. If you want it to be trouble-free, do it right.

I am probably going to get the t-connector version when it comes out. Just to clean up the wiring. The universal was cheap enough to be a throw-away later.

$74 bucks for that kit I don't think it was that cheap.


George, yes they are the scotchlock connectors like the one below. I agree this is not the ideal scenario. I too will be looking at the t-connector kit soon as it becomes available. The connectors will come from the Midwest plant, not Celaya. Likely the copacker/manufacturer for Etrailer that makes their trailer harness kits for them has not gotten enough of the 2015 connector pieces yet to stock enough t-connector kits for production. The next few months that will change for sure I'm told. The connector itself is only sensing the signal for the lights and activating solid state relays within the converter box. As long as a decent connection is made, there is little to no amperage at the interconnect point.

I read some reviews that the Curt converter boxes are severely undersized for the wattage they claim to handle, and fail internally. I don't know how true it is, but yeah $74 is a bit steep, but I'd prefer reliability.

That is why I converted the trailer to LED. The load is tiny now.

Agreed on LED. Im looking to get the harbor freight 4x8ft trailer. Perfect for my needs. Ill add the LED lights after building it. Ever since I joined this forum the idea of having a tow hitch with a 4x8 trailer was a great compromise to having a pickup truck. Top that with in my area at least...you dont see to many Fits towing anything at all.
