HR-V, debut at LA auto show, on sale before year's end?

That's what this article suggests:

I'll believe it when I see it! :)

48 mpg would be great on a small SUV. Shame that number is probably for the hybrid version not to be sold in the US. I expect the number to be just a hair above the new crv. Which, if that were the case, it would beg the question of why bother.

I bet that "48MPG" is an intentional misquote to get the article referenced more. That is the rather fanciful Japanese JC08 mileage figure for which the Fit scores 61MPG. The estimate I've seen is around 34MPG for the US version.

As a Scion xB owner used to a taller stance and spacious headroom I would love a Fit with those qualities. I just hope that the HR-V keeps a similar footprint and doesn't get too porky with its US-spec bumpers.

48mpg may not be a misquote or typo. I can get 48mpg on the interstate highway in my Fit, and this has the same exact engine, chassis, etc plus the weight is close to the same or within a couple hundred pounds... so basically a Fit with different shape body and interior.

My combined highway/city mileage hovers consistently just above 40mpg
