USB Playlist
I just got my Fit and I'm looking forward to storing music on a usb drive.
Can we program a playlist or does it just play all songs? I like the idea of having every song on my PC on a thumb drive but being able to categorize my music into playlists. |

I have an LX. It doesn't look like there's any way to make a playlist on a USB (unless I'm missing something). Heck, I'd settle for a better way to sort albums. (Ie Genre>Artist>Albums. So unless you want to dump all your disco tunes in the same album, and call it your "Disco Playlist", I don't think there's any other way... :-) |
It's organized by folder structure and you can nest folders. So if you want a "playlist" you'd just put all the songs you want for that playlist in a folder, and that's your playlist.
you can see how it works in my review video at 12:30 |
M3u files are not recognized :-( I tried my test drive, I created a file and it worked on my pc, but the car failed to see it. I think the best you can do I create folders and number the tracks in the order you want.

Thanks guys! Roger roger on the folder 'playlist' function....
I use a program called MP3TAG that lets you do batch operations on all your mp3 files.... like move them to a directory structure based on the name of the file. You could do it by genre too.... For example... I name my mp3s by artist - songname.mp3 . so artist becomes %1 and songname becomes %2. I tell the program to "rename" the files to m:\music\%1\%1-%2 and it will create a folder for me called music\artistname\artist - songname. slick. Would be easy to do the same by genre. Hope this helps someone! Wes |
Thanks for the program. I'm using the trial version of dBPowerAmp to convert all my flac files to a compatible format.
