Dashcam Not Always Working

I have one of these dashcams, and I look over occasionally and see that it isn't working. I doesn't happen very often, maybe once or twice a month. When I start the car again, it will be fine. My son has noticed the same thing with his dashcam. Any comments?

I don't have that cam, but I do notice that on rare occasions my GPS fails to turn itself on with the car. The lighter plug is on when the ignition is in "run" or "accessory" mode, but off while the starter is cranking. I think my GPS is getting confused, if the timing is just so, by having its power turned on then off then on again. Maybe something similar is going on for your camera.

At any rate, a quick poke at the GPS's power button fixes everything for me.

Dashcam shutting down

I have one of the cheap chinese dashcams also. I have been running it for over 2 years. I think a glitch on the 12 VDC power port causes a power off. I see the screen go blank and just turn it back on. I think there is something in the menu for the auto turn off feature you might try to disable. Also if yours has a battery keep it charged and try running from battery power only. I love mine and it records 2 minute increments. If something happens I save that file to disk.

I have three of these G1W dashcams in different vehicles. All are hardwired into the fuse panel. Every once in a while one of the usb plugs comes loose from the camera and has to be pushed back in. The one in my Fit has never failed to come on when the car was started.

Had the same issue in my BMW - I don't think it's a Fit thing.
