Temporary driver's side mat?

My new 2015 Fit LX came with a clear hard plastic mat on the driver's side. The mat is stuck to the floor, even at the front where there are no hooks. Should this be removed when I install real mats? Don't want to damage anything by ripping it up, but it seems like the real mats (OEM all-season with spikes on the bottom) would work better without it.

2015 Fit should have hooks on the driver floor. I'm not sure what you are describing when it comes to the hard clear plastic mat. Maybe a picture?

My 2015 LX did not come with floor mats so it was just the bare floor there. Is that what you're talking about?
