window glass broken!

Hi Everyone,

My girlfriend's 2015 Fit was just broken into last night :(

They smashed the left rear passenger window. She called Honda, who apparently wants about $1000 to replace it (?!?!?)

QUESTION: Will a window from a previous year interchange with this one? I can find those for about $100 or so, and can change it myself. I'm not sure about body styling changes/years etc. Anybody know for sure? I called the local stealership, and they were no help whatsoever...

Her car is a 4 door 2015 Fit (an LX, I think)

Thanks!!!

Given the redesign from '13 to '15 (no US '14 MY), I doubt you can use the 2nd gen Fit part.

That stinks - sorry to hear this. That's a really expensive fix v- does she have comprehensive coverage on her insurance? Then she would only have to pay the deductible.

I'm a bit confused as to why someone would break into it, unless she left something desirable out for a person to see....because they wouldn't have been able to steal the car without the immobilizer key.
I've had many cars broken into/stolen over the years (it sucks, believe me) and those were the two reasons for it...I left something valuable out where a person saw it and of course Hondas were great parts cars back in the day so people tried steal it for that reason.. Nothings worse than getting a call from the police saying they've located "what's left" of your car.

Talk to an aftermarket supplier like Safelight. If they have the part they will be less than half the cost of OEM and there is no difference in quality. They will often come to your home or place of business and replace it there!

Is the car insured? Check with the insurance before doing any work!

Yeah, your insurance should cover that.

Hopefully you have less than $1000 deductible :o If not, lower it. The small premium increase is worth it IMO.

Hopefully you didn't have the rear windows tinted or else you're going to need to get them retinted as well.

Sorry about your loss. Criminals suck.

Sorry to hear of your damage. As someone said, check with your insurance company. Most auto glass coverage has no deductible so there will be no out of pocket charge for you.

When someone broke into the back of our 2007 Honda Odyssey, our $0 deductible comprehensive covered it, and they came out to our house to do the work. I asked the guy if Honda glass was an option, and he said they only replace glass with the original Honda brand if the car is less than a certain age. In other words, if my van was a new 2014 model, they would have used Honda glass. It was not, so they used another brand, that works just as well.

I was not even required to obtain a police report. It really is a painless procedure. Sorry your going through this.

That sucks. It's one of the reasons why I got my windows tinted pretty dark to keep casual thieves making a smash and grab.

Good luck and hopefully will get sorted out soon!

I checked the Safelite site and the rear glass was around $320 installed.

You will like Safelite glass. I've had my windshield replaced on my previous car and their glass is tougher than Honda's in terms of better rock chips resistance due to crappy California roads up here. Very happy with it.

Good Place For OEM Parts For Relatively Cheap

Majestic Honda - The Internet's #1 Honda Automotive Parts Store

This website has all of the OEM equipment for pretty decent prices. When I had my ridgeline I used this site extensively to replace dashboard parts, lights, gaskets, side view mirrors, etc.

Here is the link to the Fit LX rear door glass for a reference. It looks like they want 83.60 without shipping.

Hope this helps.
