Just figured I share these videos with all the 3rd Gen owners and potentials.

Yet, people still drive crazy, tailgate, text, phone talk about things that could wait when not driving, drive while on legal, illegal drugs, sleep depraved, feeling fine but not paying attention, and the list goes on.

Safety features are great, but a lot of people think of them as an excuse not to be attentive to what they're doing while driving.

Anyway, I just threw in my 2 cents and enjoyed the vids for their engineering to protect people.

Tiny car, but I feel very safe in mine. The improvements in vehicular safety in the last 10 years is insane. I actually feel much safer in my 2600lb fit than the 3300lb Mustang from 2003 that I sold.

Oh yeah! Great test results.

This car just rocks it. It's getting attention now more and more.

Fit crash test scores as good as any other cars and better than any other car in this segment. Nissan minivan (Quest) scored worse than Fit.
Any one in TX drives fit on highways during windy days? Does it feel comfortable.

It was amazing for me to see how the side impact air bags deployed during impact. I have never seen that before. Hopefully, I never get to see it in real life either but it's comforting knowing my head won't go smashing through the side window.

Yeah I really noticed this as well. Incredible speed; those sensors or whatever triggers the bag to deploy must be ultra sensitive. I dont know much about car safety, but I do 'feel' safe from seeing these videos and reading a little up on the cars features.

Then a lifted Hummer pulls up next to me at a light....:eek:

Guess they need a 6 star rating after showing a truck driving over the Fit now. :D

To be fair, the Kia Soul did better overall, getting a "good" rating on all the test segments of the IIHS test series. Honda got most of them but only got an "acceptable" on the small overlap test, and that on their do-over try after they modified the design to fix some (but apparently not all) deficiencies.

This disappoints me as Honda promised that they would achieve "good" ratings on all segments for the 2015 Fit after the 2013 scored badly on the small overlap test for which it was not designed. How can Kia meet the standard and not Honda?

To be even fairer, gotta compare apples to apples.

Kia Soul is classified as a Compact. 2015 Fit topped the Sub-compact category!!!!

Kia's 2015 sub-compact is the Rio and it scored Marginal in the overlap test plus Average in the side collision.

Not sure what standards Kia is meeting? Kia optima has similar rating to Fit. Kia Sorento has poor rating in small overlap test.
Honda pilot has Poor rating for similar test.

Made me sad to see those cars get smashed up like that but only way to know what happens in a crash.

The offset is the one you need to be worried about the most.
That's the damage I took when my truck was totaled at an intersection. A lot of major accidents occur when cars cross the center line.


The crash here was not fantastic but okay. I've seen better. the door frame warped which is why they got an acceptable rating. the door frame should allow for the door to open or for the very least no major deformation of the door frame or door poppage and as you can see there is some survivable deformation and the door popped, but not major like the 2001 f150

While this is true, running into a immovable object is quite a bit different than a car. While a good test, I think it's slightly exaggerated as far as severity, and is not a good representation of the situation you're describing.

It's a very difficult test to pass, i'm impressed the 2015 did so well. I think larger cars will have an even harder time if only because of their mass, assuming the speed is the same. At the same time, I think this is another reason that test is not a good representation of "vehicles crossing the line".
