CVT Transmission doesn't vary on 2015 LX
Driving my daughter's 2015 LX CVT Fit and on the freeway today and the CVT stopped varying the gears. Now if I drive uphill I have to drive slow, 5MPH sometimes. The max I can drive is 55 MPH on a flat road. The engine light is ON. I wonder if it's just a blown fuse?

take it to orielly or auto zone, and see what the check engine light is on for.

Auto retailers diagnostic readers give only very general information. You need to take the car to someone who is familiar with your problem.

Warranty? Dealership ASAP

Warranty expired. My daughter lives permanently in the US and keeps this car for family extended visits since there is so much to see in the United States.
It's as if the computer link between the engine and transmission has failed. The CVT is stuck in one position. The larger the incline you ttry to climb the slower the engine starts to buckle and vibrate. Not very impressive for Honda. |

To many miles
I haven't checked the fault code yet. Driving another car for now. |
While I'm not one to frequent dealerships if I don't have to - preferring independent shops and doing my own repairs if I can - I wonder if this is a software issue rather than a mechanical issue. For that reason, I'd probably pay a Honda dealer for a diagnosis. You can always specify diagnosis only and no repairs without your authorization.

I suspect it is a sensor issue. Software doesn't break or suddenly goes haywire.
|
Which sensor do you suspect?

Figure out the fault code, then we can discuss facts instead of theory. |

Do you have a diagram of the circuitry to the CVT?
You can purchase a simple code reader for less than $20, or go to many auto parts stores where they will read codes for free in hopes you buy a laundry list of parts to load your parts cannon with. Get the actual code numbers, not the shopping list. You can find wiring diagrams and almost all of the same service info a dealership has, at Honda Service Express: https://techinfo.honda.com/rjanisis/logon.asp Note: No free rides. Check your VIN for any needed recalls at recalls.honda.com (USA) honda.ca/recalls (Canada) |
How many sensors are present? Which sensor do you think failed?

Is there a schematic of the 2015 Fit wiring system online somewhere?
