Tall folks, don't forget driver seat height adjuster
I'm 6'2" tall and have plenty of headroom with the driver's seat fully raised (my wife is the main driver of our 2016 LX and she likes the seat all the way up), but I'm really short of legroom. I had foolishly forgotten that when you lower the driver's seat it also moves the seat bottom back a good bit, opening up the legroom some. It's not a huge difference, but it does help. I was getting to the point of thinking about selling the car because it's so uncomfortable on long trips, but with the seat fully lowered I can tell I'll be much more comfy. It makes the bend in your right knee and the angle of your ankle on the gas pedal less acute, a big help.
(Of course, I'll be sitting so low it will feel like driving a bathtub, but life's full of compromises. :wiggle:) Anyway, just a tip for tall folks who may be having problems with legroom. |
that's a good tip. i also noticed when i adjust the height i also have to adjust the forward/aft slider.
not related, but i heard on the new miata you dont get that option. it has a preset height vs leg room ratio to save weight or something on the seat rails so you only get low + leg room or short + no leg room. |
This is the first car I've owned that had a seat height adjustment (had a Toyota Tacoma for 21 years). I'm 6 ft tall but still have the height cranked up all the way. Love the view from up there. :)

I'm only 5'6", short arms and legs and I've got the seat all the way down! Lol. It's b/c I find it very comfortable that way.

I test drove my car just shy of 3 years now. Never changed the seats since they were immediately right for me. I'm 5'8" (maybe an inch less since I'm 62, which might account for the extra inch at my waist), and 165 lbs.
Ten hour days and I get out utterly relaxed. And I can't stand up straight after 30 minutes in most chairs. |

The Orangutan (long ago CB handle ... no, I don't have orange fur) |
I keep the seat all the way down to the floor. Sitting up higher just doesn't feel right. I'm 5' 5" with short legs. I might try raising it a bit to see the difference.

I made a thread titled Pedals.... Basically the same subject in a way.
I'm 5'8" ( maybe and inch taller after spinal fusions ) But what I find awkwards is when you can fully depress the clutch (pointy toed) the right leg seems too long and cant find a comfy spot to rest as you drive like the gas pedal is too far forward ( toward you) If I move the seat back so gas pedal/leg feel comfortable then its a reach for the steering and cannot disengage the clutch.... so whats the secret to the Fit feeling comfortable and that Happy Medium with the clutch and gas? Really odd design flaw here. |
I set mine at the highest setting, but it drops down gradually, so I always have to re-check once a week to make sure it's back at the high setting.

My wife and I've had our '17 LX for 3 months now. I'm 6' and I've had the darnest time trying to get comfortable--the main problem being that at my normal driving position (very low and far from the clutch to the point my left leg is almost straight when I depress the clutch), my right shoulder is bent down uncomfortably in order to reach the higher gears.
Then I figured out how the Fit maximizes passenger room in such a small package (especially the rear passenger room). First and most obvious is that the Fit has a very short hood leaving more room for the interior. The next, less obvious is that you cannot push the front seats back as much as you can in other cars. So at 6', I cannot push the seat back far enough so my left leg is at my preferred position when I depress the clutch. Then I tinkered with the seat adjustments a bit and it dawned upon me that the Fit was meant to be driven in an upright position. Almost as if you are sitting in a desk chair. So, I give the seat height adjustment 5 full pumps and I push the seat back nearly to the end. In this way, the height of the clutch, brakes and gas are more "even" and more importantly, 5thr gear is not so far away so that I don't feel like Quasimodo when driving the Fit. |
