Great thread and write-up. Glad to see people enjoying this piece. It's a nice worthwhile investment as far as performance goes. This and an aftermarket exhaust muffler will work well together.

Just ordered for my 18 and taking advantage of the $30 off sale. Is it necessary to remove the windshield cowl to get at the upper manifold bolts ?

Reviving Post

I have a 2017 Honda Fit MT (stock) and installed the Rv6 cat less down pipe. There was a major annoying high pitch vibration noise in the 3-4K rpm range. It was high pitch and annoying. I ended up getting the HKS silent exhaust to hopefully diminish or get rid of the noise.

the noise went down a little but still a little fart can ricer sounding when in the 3-4K range.

the next and possibly last thing will be a k tuner

i know this is definitely not a fast car but have felt a funner driving experience. If the loud pitch noise went away then I would definitely be excited with the additions.

You need a pretty large volume/size muffler to get rid of that sound, I really wish I had gone with the catted version. I put a big magnaflow on and it did the trick for a year, then the packing material had apparently had enough and the rasp was back. I cut a hole in the top of the muffler and packed a bunch of steel wool in, sound went pretty much back to the way it was.

wish I would have read your feedback before I got the hks exhaust. I may just take the down pipe off and keep the HKS

Sorry, I posted about my experience with the whole thing when I got it, but I don't remember which thread it was in.

This is interesting. I had a J's Racing B pipe without a cat converter on for over a year and had no raspiness. I made sure to have a resonator on the 'B' pipe and a nice sized aftermarket muffler (not small like the J's Racing 50R). Car stayed relatively quiet. Also, when I was running the RV6 non-catted pipe, no raspiness. Again, I did have a J's racing B pipe but it had a resonator in it and I also had a the largest, straight through pipe muffler I could fit. No raspiness!

Only when I had a small, straight through muffler design did my exhaust sound LOUD. I lost count of the different exhaust sizes I have tried. 2" was all that was needed for power though. Anything larger and it just sounded louder. No increase in performance.
