2016 Honda Fit Won't Start
Hi, everyone! This is my first new car, so I don't know much and would really appreciate any help.
My car has about 20k miles on it, and I recently moved to LA area from NorCal. Less than a week being here, it suddenly stopped working 2 hours after I accidentally set my alarm off for a few seconds. When I went out to go start my car so I could go to my first day of work, it wouldn't start. The driver's side window wouldn't roll down, and the radio turned on briefly before shutting down. Jump starting the car worked just fine, but it died again when I got off work. The next day, I take the battery to AutoZone, and the worker checks the volts saying it's almost fully charged. I take it back to my car (notice there's some fluid on my hand when I set it in but just wipe it off) and set it in. I try to start it, but the same thing happens. I am flat out broke and can't afford to take it to a mechanic and have only about $50 to spare after being suckered into buying a tool set that I didn't need lol. Any ideas of what it could be? Maybe I need a new battery or I didn't put it in tight enough? Thanks in advance! |
If it's the original honda battery, they have a 3yr/36Kmi warranty on it. What sound is the car making when you try to start it up?
The charging system should also still be covered by the bumper to bumper warranty right now. |

Hard to tell over the internet.
But symptomatically it sure does sound like an battery/electrical problem. And yes, if under warranty do not pass go...go have it fixed. |

It does sound exactly like the battery. Did the guy at AutoZone simply do a quick voltage test (worthless) or did he actually do a load test? You might want to go somewhere else to have the battery checked.

Came here to say this. It's under warranty, so go to your Honda dealer.

Thanks for your help, everyone! I'm going to try to take it into a local Honda dealership and see if that helps. I will let you know how it goes! :)
|
Any Honda dealer will work and the whole car should be under warranty. I'd let them figure it out.
|
It can be any dealership. If you call honda cares, they'll tow it to the nearest one to you.
|
Yep your battery is shorted or low. It will read charged but under load it will failed. If you can jump start it and run fine until the next startup means it is the battery.
|
What's the status? Did you have to pay for tow service to the dealer? That can be costly if you don't have auto tow or a VISA card that helps pay. If the dealer said it is the battery, you know what they say in Russia? Tough shitky. Not only that, a new one from them will cost you an arm and a leg.
|
Your fit should have free road side assistance also if you need to tow or check the battery. The same thing happen to my Fit thought it was the battery but turned out to be the starter went bad at 30k miles
