Windows don't wipe clean when rolled down?
Just wondering if this happens with everyone's windows or just mine. Never had a car with windows that didn't wipe clean of fog or water when rolled down. Rolling down and back up the windows remain unchanged. Kind of annoying in the morning.

Last couple of cars I have had have been this way.
And I think it's a very good thing. Think about it. While it may seem frustrating those morning we would like a hands off way of removing rain drops...the rest of the time it's a good thing. A seal tight enough to squeege water off a window is also tight enough to drag dirt and debris against your glass and scratch it. I think I'd much rather have rain...which is going to be there regardless..than have my window at risk to be scratched or damaged all the rest of the time. |
The window gaskets aren't squeegees. No manufacturer intends them to be. They are there just to keep crap from getting into the door. It's your job to wipe the window.
It's a miracle the human race survives. |

It's a miracle the human race survives. It's a very minor thing, was just wondering if it was suppose to be that way. No big deal. On cold mornings when I forget to wipe my windows is when I wished I could roll them down to clear them. |
yah same on my GK pumpkintacos.
and i too wished it was a squeegee. lol |

Yeah, you wish it was a squeegee....until that summer day, when you roll up and down your dusty dirty window and scratch your glass. Then you'll wish it was a whole lot less squeegee.

ive had cars that used the seals to squeegee off fog.. and those cars DID NOT have any scratches from the grit folks are so worried about. some folks are too anal... they need to wipe their anus better.
|
I have had scratches on the glass from grit embedded in the glides of an old Subaru caused by rallycrossing. It sucks. Long scratches in two spots.
|
yah, i can understand from off roading..

To wipe down the driver's window, I press the top of the window toward outside while rolling down the window. It help 90% of the time. BUT the passenger window, I'm without solution. :(

yep, bugs me too. Can't get fog off my windows while I'm driving. Should be more squeegee-ish. Not safe.

You all should just drive faster and the wind will take care of the rest...
