Fit ex radio into an lx?
I am buying a 17 fit lx and I have been searching for any answer if I can swap out the stock lx head unit with a stick ex unit. I haven't found and answer and I was wondering if anyone here would know

Sure, just depends how much you're willing to pay. For simplicity, just buy the EX though. You get a lot more than just the head unit.

Other than the radio itself, what else would I need?

Not having done this myself, but the OEM EX head units are tied to the CANBUS system of the car, which also looks to match the VIN# that the head unit is registered to. This is likely not possible. Besides why put the OEM EX Head in there when you can do a nice aftermarket unit.

Darn. Well I appreciate the insight.

Well an LX HU in an EX maybe not so much an issue, but an EX HU in an LX highly unlikely. Besides, why put an eX into an LX when there are better aftermarket HUs out there

General consensus is that :
* The new headunit will be just fine for whatever you do, provided you got $100-$200 worth of harness cables * You will retain lanewatch, but there is a 2-3 sec lag from switch to it appearing, and the same from it dissapearing * You will have backup camera, but only the fisheye view. No way to switch to normal or top down. Although some googling showed me this : BC23 Honda Reverse Camera Adapter which seems to let you switch the view... no idea where the switch is though |
