Does 2018 EX Still Have A Radio Code for Security?

Past threads on pre-2018 models talk about retrieving the radio code in several ways. Some have stickers in the glove box with the radio code, others access the radio serial # using standard buttons, and still others get the radio serial # through the menus in the touchscreen display. None of the those methods apply that I can tell on the 2018 EX. Even attempting to enter the VIN and Unit # via the Honda Owners website tells me that I don't have a valid radio serial #. I understand some late models do not use the radio code anymore, but I don't wish to disconnect my battery to determine if this is true or not, especially if it leaves me dead on the spot. Can anyone validate whether the radio code is still in use on the 2018 EX with its touchscreen display?

I pulled this from the FAQ section of the 2018 owners manual...

"Q: After my battery was disconnected or went dead, the audio system is asking for a code. Where do I find this?

A: In most cases, you do not need to enter a code. Turn on the vehicle and the audio system, and press and hold the power button until the system reactivates."

Kind of wish ours was like that. The buttons on ours are slowly becoming unresponsive. Entering the code is quite difficult because it doesn't accept the button press at first and then accepts it twice.

Took me like 15 minutes last time and it's only going to get worse.

I saw that in the FAQ too. What is a bit concerning is the phrase "in most cases." It would be good to know what the exceptions are. I will call the dealer and see if they will provide the code to me.

I disconnected my battery for a subwoofer install. The display will take some time to 'reboot,' then it will ask you to press and hold the power button. By that it means the volume knob. Just hold it down and eventually it will unlock itself.

Thanks. It is easier when one knows what to expect in such a situation.

So, the way I get this is: the radio will prompt you to "enter code," but there's no code to enter and no way to enter it? The radio is going to figure this out by itself. If it doesn't there's nothing you can do. WTF????
