Does anyone here use HondaLink with their Fit and why?

Just spent my first week or so with my brand-new '18 Fit EX-L in Helios Yellow. I'm settling in with the audio and AndroidAuto and other smartphone integrations. I was about to download HondaLink for my phone, but then got to wondering: what, exactly, does HondaLink do for the Honda Fit besides push service notifications? The Google Play page was vague, and the reviews poor (although some seem like possible user error to me). Plus, some capabilities (remote start, for example) seem to be model- and trim-line specific. And from what's in the manual, there doesn't seem to be much that HondaLink does that AndroidAuto doesn't also do.

To be clear: what benefit/s do you get from the HondaLink app on your third-gen Fit?

If no one answers and this thread languishes unviewed and unresponded to, that's a big help right there too!

Does Hondalink still exist? When I bought my ‘15 it was supposed to be a “poor man’s” CarPlay or Android Auto as I remember. Back then we were supposed to buy a $50 HDMI adapter cable to be able to use it. I never did. I prefer a dedicated GPS as there are too many areas with no data service.

I've got it still active on my phone just in case i need to use it to summon Honda Roadside Assistance available through my 3 yr/36,000 mile warranty term.

HondaLink

I use it... I think it has a couple benefits. First and maybe foremost, it’ll contact 911 if an airbag is deployed. This could save your life if you’re unconscious. Second, it shows your cars location on Maps when parked so if you park someplace unusual or a huge lot, or someone decides to ‘borrow’ your ride, you can pinpoint it no problem. It looks like you can do quite a bit more if you have an EX-L (I have a Sport), I believe remote start is on there which is a big plus.

I bought that HDMI adaptor right away. I never bought the nav app, seeing the awful reviews. While there were some positive reviews, the negative ones seemed to indicate that the app didn't work well when the phone would ring or a text came in. It seems that you may need to quit and restart the app when this happens, while stopped. I would love to have a GPS on the screen in my Fit, bit don't have that much use for a navigation unit anyway. More of a toy, that gets some use at times.

My nav unit on my ex-l shows me traffic in green / orange / red lines alongside the highway and also some local roads. I never opted for any service with data, so I don't know how it does it.

I downloaded it because I thought it would let me start my car from inside my house. NOPE!

I revisited Honda Link today and was reminded of why I don't use it. With my iPhone X it seemed to freeze and become unresponsive much of the time. This was my experience in the past as well. In also tried mirroring my phone's navigation on the radio display, and this was also disappointing. The display on the radio was not full, I guess that's what the phone sends. In addition to that, using the navigation this way means that you get no audio from the radio like music etc. A portable GPS seems to be the only way to go, unless you have factory navigation installed.

2018+ models come with Apple CarPlay / Android Auto, which is realllllllly nice
