2018 Fit dirties white shoes

My right white shoe gets really dirty (black) as a driver and this has happened on the previous Honda fit 2015 model and now I have it again with the 2018. I believe it is the crappy carpeting that does it. Anyone experience this?

2Rismo2 11-27-2018 12:51 PM

If it was the carpeting, wouldn't both shoes get dirty?

mike410b 11-27-2018 12:51 PM

Are you putting your foot behind the gas pedal for some strange reason?

SR14626 11-27-2018 01:04 PM

Funny. Yeah, I put my foot behind the gas pedal just for laughs. :rotfl: No, just one shoe and it’s always the right shoe for some reason. Maybe I tilt my right shoe while pressing on the gas pedal towards the sidewall panel. Don’t know, just interesting.

Edited: When out to the car, should have done this earlier, and noticed my shoe does not reach towards the side panel to where It could get dirty. Even more complexing because it never happened before.

Curious how dirty your cabin air filter is and if the floor vent is dumping out on your right foot. I see Florida as your location and just north of a place I like to visit (Bonita Springs). Florida coast if full of that black dirt film that gets on EVERYTHING. I think they try to claim it is soil, but it is very odd stuff.

Did the shoes come that way? (ie, the right foot, more dirty than the left foot, out of the box/since day1)

bargainguy 11-27-2018 02:34 PM

Interesting conundrum. Unknown if the grime is being deposited via direct contact or blown onto your shoe, but I favor direct contact from the pattern.

Is it possible you're hitting something on the underside of the dash with your foot while entering and exiting the vehicle?

wasserball 11-27-2018 03:00 PM

Maybe you should keep an eye on the right shoe to see what it is doing instead of looking ahead when you are driving.

Some black shoe polish will permanently fix whatever that problem is. You're welcome!

Did the crappy carpet also stain your pants?

strange. my Fit didn't come with carpet, just the cheap thin rubber mat surface.

The “carpet” in my Fit looks more like cheap roofing felt than carpet. Even my Dodge Neon (also an entry level car) came with high quality cut pile carpeting throughout.

Have you thought about what black shoes can do for you?

Carpet in every mainstream car was nicer 20 years ago than it is today. Cost cutting dude.

Capitalism at work!

Do you by any chance wear your shoes to places that are not your car?

kenchan 11-28-2018 09:48 PM

bach 11-28-2018 11:21 PM

I wear white Nikes and I've never had a dirty shoe, even after several roadtrip hours on the pedal.

I wear white nikes/adidas/jordan/etc.

Also never issues, other than on the mid-sole where it partially rests on my rubber Aries 3D all-weather liners.
