some meth head most likely smashed in my rear passenger window to find absolutely nothing in my car while parked at my house. B trim, window and some paint to be repaired. Thanks to insurance still annoying.

GolNat 12-05-2018 03:42 PM

Could have damaged worse but that is annoying.

One of my former bosses told me: "If you park outside don't bother locking the doors. If they want to get in they're going to get in and there's no point in forcing them to smash their way in." I've never been able to follow this advice because it's too ingrained in me to lock everything up, but I haven't forgotten this.

My brother didn't lock his Miata as he'd much prefer them NOT cut the top to gain access. He never had a break-in and I can't remember him ever locking it.

OP - stupid people suck.

GAFIT 12-05-2018 09:18 PM

Sorry about the bad luck. Bad people suck and should be tortured.

kenchan 12-05-2018 09:49 PM

In my town there have been a bunch of thefts from cars but they're not breaking in- they're just trying the doors to see if they're unlocked. The police have been telling people for months not to leave unlocked cars in driveways but they're still getting reports of thefts.
Which is weird because they've already caught a couple of people but it's continuing.

Police should be telling people not to leave valuables in cars parked outside. That's the real cause of this problem. Thieves are obviously finding things of value - that's why they keep doing it.

Brain Champagne 12-06-2018 10:50 AM

They do but you're blaming the victim.
And as far as what thieves are finding in cars in my town, mostly it's a bunch of quarters or some tools, with an occasional iPad (which I kind of doubt people are really leaving in their cars).

I just couldn’t leave it unlocked. Maybe I left an old cell phone case in the cup holder. The back lane has a lot of people looking for beer cans because there’s a vendor down the road. I don’t want to come and have someone sleeping in there. Hopefully it’s not a monthly occurrence or I’ll have to park in the front.
Carports are just bad for concealing people oh well it employs an Autobody employee.
