This is funny. We're waiting for a 2019 Fit EX ($22,000) while using a 2019 Civic loaner. The dealer called yesterday and said that they just got in a 2017 Fit EX with 12k miles, and we could have it for about $20k. Looking online, I see them advertised for more like $14 and $15k. I guess that is a very good deal - for the dealer.

 

 

I'm sure the fact that we have their brand new loaner car is causing them some concern. It's one thing to say that the car will arrive within a week, but it's quite another to have someone putting mileage on a new car more than a week later.

 

I would hold dealer to agreement and drive that civic untill I got my new fit.

This is a deal, a great one for the dealer. If the dealer is worried about mileage accumulating on the Civic loaner they should have put you in a used car where extra mileage wouldn't matter. Hold them to their original deal.

 

Yeah, I thought it was very strange for them to give us a brand new Civic with just 13 miles on it. They had dozens of used cars on the lot.

 

yah, as soon as the Fit comes in, just tell them u lost interest and walk away. lol

 

I'd be walking away from a $500 deposit. Of course, I could also consider that the rental fee for the Civic. : )

 

huh, most dealers ive spoken to will refund the deposit if you change ur mind... unless your dealer wrote it down on your particular contract that they wont.

 

Funny thing is, I didn't sign a contract to buy a car. I just signed a paper for the loaner. : )

I wonder what story the dealer is going to tell the buyer down the road as to why his "brand new" Civic has 800 or whatever miles on it. I'm sure they'll think of something creative besides "that's normal!".

 

Apparently, after they add dealer prep, $114 for wheel locks, and whatever else.

We have about 700 miles on the car so far, and it's been two weeks. He said the new car would be here in "a week or less." I'm sure this Civic will become a loaner for the service department. I'm also sure that they're going to try to hit me up with charges for the loaner when we return it.

Albany and MA are still saying online that they have an EX available, but neither one does. It's amazing what they can get away with.

 

Is all good, keep on driving the Civic. Thinking about taking it cross country? At least the southern route this time of the yr?

We'll see what happens when the car arrives - hopefully before the summer.

 

wow, that's a long time to wait! but at least you wont get road salt and crud on your brand new ride this winter.
