Child Car Seats
Please share your photos, experiences of child car seats in the rear of the Fit. Thanks.

I have not tried rear-facing or the larger forward-facing car seats in my Fit. My kids were just getting out of booster seats when I purchased the car. But, I was able to squeeze two booster seats on the outboard seats and one big kid in the middle. They were definitely cozy back there. Even with my 6' frame in the front seat, the kid directly behind me could swing her legs. I know this because my chair does not have a built in massage feature, but something kept thumping the back of my chair.

I just realized you posted in the 3rd Gen forum. My Fit is the 2nd Gen, but I am assuming the interior width is more or less the same.

Found an article with photos of rear facing and forward facing car seats in a Fit. https://www.cars.com/articles/is-the-honda-fit-fit-for-families-1420683868102/ https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fit...c5da22597.jpeg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fit...d5ea30c43.jpeg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fit...ab961ef2c.jpeg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fit...3ef041508.jpeg |
I had to install the child seat on the passenger side of my 2008 Fit. I did the same with my newer 2017 Fit but I don't know if it was necessary. Our son is almost old enough for a booster seat.

I've had both a Graco Ride 65LX and Britax B-Safe 35 in my GK at the same time. The Graco is really large so the middle seat is unusable. Both fit just fine.

2 car seats
I have had rear and front facing seats in my car (currently and permanently have one of each for now) I'm almost 6' tall and am fine with the front facing and 3yo behind me. Rear facing has to stay behind passenger...

I tried it at 5'11 and 190lbs. Granted i didnt have any special homebuilt setups like this but at 5'11 and with back problems its a no from me. The biggest problem is the seats dont lie perfectly flat. The point at which they fold over has a large seam/hump that lands right at your waist line. Even with the front seat extended i couldnt find a more comfortable option than just rolling into ball.
If you have a nice thick 5+inch pad along with extensions or supports in front of the rear seats then i might possibly re-try it. |
