Ac compressor

Does anybody know offhand, down to what temperature the AC compressor will run?

The AC compressor has to compress Freon™ gas and turn it into a liquid. I believe that happens at about -40° C, a bit more or a bit less depending on the type of Freon™.

I'm still a bit confused because -40 Celsius or Fahrenheit is actually the same so I'm going to speak in terms of Fahrenheit if its -40 Fahrenheit that the compressor will operate until that doesn't seem to make sense to me I know I'm previous vehicles if the outside air temperature was somewhere in the neighborhood of a little above freezing say 35 degrees you could turn the air conditioning on inside the car but the compressor would not engage because of the outside air temperature already being cold.

The compressor could be damaged if the A/C system is turned on when the air temperature is too low (I suppose the Freon might solidify rather than liquefying, damaging the pumping system) therefore it is reasonable to assume that the manufacturer has a safety feature built in to disable the system when air temperatures are too low. That would be my assumption.

I know this post is old but I just recharged mine using a can of A/C Pro Ultra. Super simple since the port is right there on the Fit, took 5 minutes. My system was very low on the gauge. Filled it up and now it blows really cold air.

I got it at Advance with a promotion of 15% and $5 off for signing up for rewards so even with tax it was just $40.

Did not even use the full can. It says it reduces leaks but even once a year fill who cares. Hope that helps someone.
