2016 Fit Defroster Problem

I'm hoping that this may help some new owners of the 2016 Fit. I previously owned a 2007 Fit but purchased the 2016 in November. I was having problems defrosting the front window. I tried every combination of vent, settings, inside air, outside air. Went to this site and others trying to find the solution. As I said, this was not my first Fit or first car so it had me stumped. I could see a little air coming out from the side vents and only a small area of my windshield was being cleared. I finally gave up and took it to the Honda dealer. He told me that because the 2016 windshield was slanted differently from my 2007 I would have to turn the dial to heat, the vent to the windshield, inside air recirculate, and then turn the air on. I tried it a few days ago and it works that way to clear my windshield. Of course if it's a comfortable temp inside, the car heats up very quickly with the heat on. Very poor design if you ask me.

No issue with my wife's GK. nothing special needed, just like how we've been going it on the GD and GE.
also, using recirculate with defrost mode is opposite of how u should be using it.

The defroster always turns on the AC to dry the air. All cars do this. In mild weather I have to blend some heat in with the defroster setting on, otherwise I'm blowing cold air on the windshield. My GE Fit worked exactly the same way.

I don't notice this in winter, because the heat is already on.

Should be using fresh air not recirculated air, also when cold use heat, if not then glass is not likely to fog up. Yes vent to the windshield. On mine if I don't have the vent to the windshield it stays fogged up. Also if the interior is cold or humid it fogs up easy too. Once dry and/or warm the glass stays clear even with the vent not set to windshield. What I do to keep it dryer inside is once the glass clears I turn off the AC with some heat on. If the vent setting is set to windshield it automatically turns on the AC but at a lower level. The AC will dehumidify but once turn off will cause condensation so you have to leave the fan on to prevent it.

The climate controls even show you that it should be using fresh air when using either of the defrost modes. I use fresh air, and set the temp to whatever is comfortable and whichever defrost mode.
