USB phone connector ... in console compartment?
My 2018 Fit EX has a USB phone connector in the cubby at the forward end of the center console, below the head unit. This is where the phone connects to the Display Audio system There is another USB receptacle in the compartment further aft in the center console, but that USB receptacle is for power only. Has any tried rewiring it so a phone can be plugged into the USB inside the compartment, and connect to the head unit from there?

Per the manual, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay only work with the front USB. My experiments with Android Auto confirm this.
The rear USB may work for playing from a USB stick, or other uses, but Android Auto is front only. The front USB receptacle has a USB trident icon, and a phone icon. The rear receptacle has the trident, but no phone icon. I would like to use Android Auto with my phone in the compartment, but I would need to modify the wiring.
