bosho.777's GK5 Build

Hello.

This is my daily-driven GK5 - my work in progress. I have a few ideas and some plans, but do not have a lot of time to spare due to other obligations and projects that I am concurrently working on. I will update this thread whenever I acquire something new and/or modify the vehicle.

Please pardon the image quality. Shooting with a humble Samsung J3 is quite a challenge.

Enjoy!

Yay, you made a thread! Your color-matched rear license garnish looks amazing!

Would you happen to have any other pictures of it installed on your car? Thanks.

Thanks! I've only gone over the upper tail lamps and license plate garnish with 1500-grit sandpaper, but I really wanted to slap them on and show 'em off already. When I have some free time, I need to wet sand everything with 2000- and 3000-grit paper, and then make some passes with my dual-action using compound, glaze, and sealant. I'll post some close-ups as soon as I'm completely done with it.

I've had these sitting around for the last month and I'm hoping to finally install them by the first week of May 2018. They're Rays Engineering Gram Lights 57Xtreme SP Spec (Matte Graphite, 17x7, +42, 17.4 pounds per wheel). Tires will be 205/45R17's, either Bridgestone Potenza S-04 Pole Position, Pirelli P Zero Nero GT, Firestone Firehawk Indy 500, or Michelin Pilot Super Sport. I also plan to notch my struts to allow for more camber adjustment before I mount the new kicks on my ride. Once all is said and done, I'll be rockin' -3.5° of camber at all four corners.

Great mods man! I like that color matched garnish and "reflectors", really fits better than OEM.

Thanks! If anything, Honda should have just kept the garnish black on all Fit models. I feel that the chrome look should be reserved for luxury vehicles.

I've never had use for a window wiper on the rear glass. Removal of the wiper assembly was no problem, but having to do the bodywork to patch up the opening left behind on the garnish was not fun - but I think my labor of love paid off by giving me a much cleaner and simpler look.

Maraming salamat po.

Someone actually approached me at a parking lot earlier and asked what trim level my Fit is. He thought it came from the factory without the rear wiper and spoiler and with the color-matched trim. Hahaha!

I decided to dry mount the wheels on my car earlier to measure clearances and determine what adjustments I may need to make with regard to camber. But before I did that, I just had to capture a couple of shots of everything before they get used and abused.

Here are a couple of shots showing the Sumole Air Cooler Ram Air Duct. For GK5 owners who have not stumbled across the thread regarding this mod, please refer to this link.

Thanks to TougeMonster_GK5 for sharing this awesome product with the forum. This is probably one of the most worthwhile mods I have installed in my Fit to date.

Awesome Thread and awesome pics of the air duct! Thanks for sharing bro and can't wait to see what the car looks like with the 57Xtremes on! I've always liked that wheel! I am actually thinking of going Works Emotion CR Kai 15x8 +20 later this year... will be eyeing this thread. cheers!

Super cool GK ! Like others have said, very cool take on the garnish and other little unique touches. Loving the wheels; I was considering those for my 86 before settling with the Gram Lights 57DR.

Thanks, all. Been away for a minute, but I finally had some tires mounted on my wheels today. Settled on a set of 205/45 Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sport tires, but I could've easily managed 215 or 225 for a chunkier look. There's at least 10mm of rim lip left over on either side of the wheels that could've accomodated more tire for a full and flush look. No regrets, though.

I'll try to snap some pics this weekend and post 'em up.

A few shots showing off my wheels. Camber up front is still at -1.8°, but I'll eventually find time to set them to -3.5° to match the rear. I don't think I'll be 100% happy until the car sits at least another inch lower. Coilovers are definitely in my future. Either that or just do the stance thing and run air. I'm in no rush, though, so I've got some time to think about what I'll be pursuing.

Cheers!

will the camber bolts, be able to achieve -3.5 degress of camber up front? or are you planning on doing some secret sauce notching to gain extra neg camber?

Notching is required to obtain anything more than the -2.0° to -2.5° that the SPC bolts can provide. You can run two sets of SPC bolts (against SPC recommendations and the opinions of Internet forum heroes, but I've seen many run and track two sets reliably for years without issue), but I'm just going to notch 'em.

A few more shots showing off the new kicks and shark fin antenna . . .

The car looks great, the 17" wheels lowers the fender gap a lot better than my 15" wheels with just lowering springs. Keep up the great work.
