So I recently picked up one of these:

Megan Racing Lower Arm Bar (MRS-HA-1291)
Lower Arm Bar for Honda Fit 2015+

Install seemed straight forward, I imagined it would go down something like this:






Well .... it didnt go so smooth. When I line up the front of the brace (narrow end) against the sub frame, it looks like this:

(lines up good, but no where to stick bolts through)


(And the rear end/wider end does not line up as the hardrace bar does)

I tried another approach, what if I lined up the wider end first .... well ... once I try that, the front end/narrow end no longer reaches the sub frame:






At this point, I am convinced that either they sent me the wrong PN and maybe this bar was meant for a 1st or 2nd gen? OR .... Megan's R&D is really really bad, and this bar will never ever fit any GK5's that try

Has any one else out there, had any luck (good or bad) with this bar? Any input is greatly appreciated!

 

FWIW .... I was able to install their Front Lower Control Arms with success ....

 

UPDATE:

I provided my VIN plate on the drivers side door jamb. It would appear some early production 2015s have a subframe that does not fit the bar. Megan was very nice about the returns process, and I will be getting a refund soon. I'm a little sad

 

I found a review somewhere stating that brace doesn't fit. I think they based it off the GE8 subframe and blindly put it to market.

I too installed the front lower brace with no issue.

 

one interesting tid bit I found the other day, apparently some GK5's come from mexico and have a slight variation on the interior (head rest). someone made mention, installing clazzio leather seat covers on the mexico honda fit's was a little diff compared to a fit that originated from elsewhere

I wonder.... if that same concept affects sub frames as well?

According to decodethis.com my origin is "china" ... I wonder if we could get just ONE person, to verify this damn bar fits.... and once we do .... if they could kindly look up their vin on the same website and verify if the country of origin shows anything else other than "china"

 

for kicks and giggles.... if some of you gk5 owners dont mind .... can some of you guys kindly look up your VINS on decodethis.com and help me verify, what your country of origin shows up as?
