VTEC (Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control) is a system developed by Honda to improve the volumetric efficiency of a four-stroke internal combustion engine.

The U.S. [Fit] model debuted at the 2014 North American International Auto Show and went on sale in June as a 2015 model year vehicle. The third generation model replaces the previous SOHC engine with an all-new 1.5-liter DOHC i-VTEC engine featuring direct injection and an intake cam using continuously variable cam phasing with a variable lift dual cam lobe profile.

Looks like it, as I got annoyed and bought a digital thread depth gauge and a set is 4.1/32 inch, while the other set is 3.7/32 inch. And being in So. Cali, I should not have an issue until at least the raining season.

I do care to some extend on the brand, as I definitely do not want tires from China. So will need to be some brand with quality and of course better performance/rating than the OEM tires.

I have 35K miles on my Honda Fit EX-L 2015 and just got a nail in my tire. Threads are pretty much worn out now so getting new tires. Any suggestions?

I have almost 35k on my 2015 EX and I am thinking of getting new tires on the next holiday sales(Labor Day) at Discount Tire Direct, Discount/America Tire. I will go with the followings, all depending on which has a better promotion at that time:

Size: 205/50/16
1) Yokohama YK580
2) Falken Pro G4

Good Luck..

I got 42k out of my factory Firestones. They've made a trip across country, other road trips, lots of gravel roads, mud, couple nails, had 4/32 tread depth left. Since about 5k miles they were at 42psi. No crowning or uneven wear. I replaced them with a set of Falken ZIEX ZE 950's. 205/50/16. Currently on H&R Sport Springs and they clear and don't run whatsoever. Ride quality is great so far. Fills up the wheel well even more with a little wider tire.

Question... I have almost same tires on my Forester. Ziex 912s In the winter when cold, when I first get on the highway they vibrate a little,(flat spots I believe) then after 5 miles or so when they warm up they are fine. Do yours do this. Other than that I like them.

Doesn't seem to for me. Could be flat spotted.

Factory tires made it to 39,200 and came off today. I have been on the outer wear bars since about 36,000 miles. Middle wear bars would have likely happened in the next 1,000 miles.

Pressure at factory recommended. Rotated every at 8,000, 17,000, and I believe 25,000 miles. Some trips at a little over Honda recommended, trying to get a little more wear out of the middle.

Majority highway miles with combined 375 pounds in the front seats. 200 pounds of gear in the back, and two bicycles on a receiver hitch rack.

New Tires: Firestone Champion Fuel Fighter in 185/65r15 (larger than stock). I could tell these are a better tire in the first 2 miles of driving. Now I'm excited to see how they travel the interstate.

You should not compare brand new tires to used tires that are past the end of the tread life. A tire (of comparable class) will always feel quieter/more comfortable/etc., when new.

Replaced the stock Firestones at 40350 miles w/ General Altimax RT43 in 205/50/16. Wider than stock and slightly larger diameter. Reviewed here: https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/3rd-...ml#post1369645

I'm at 26k on factory Firestone FR740's. There's not much meat left on them. I doubt they will make it much past 30k, if at all. I've had no complaints about dry or wet grip, even though I assumed Honda put a LRR tire on an economy car. Hopefully I can find a still-fun replacement that will last a little better and maintain my current fuel mileage.

If you want a tire that will outlast you...the Yoko Avid Ascend is probably the hardest tire I've ever come across. 30k miles on mine & zero visible wear

But as far as traction, noise, etc., goes...they're not ideal.

Hey I was at Discount Tire to ask about a replacement and the guy was steering me toward the YK740s. I asked about the Michelin Premier A/S and he said they're junk, claims the tire was thin to begin with and the compound isn't great so they're wearing out much sooner than anticipated, said I'd probably get 30K. Attitude was a bit condescending and dismissive which disappointed me a bit.

I've heard nothing negative about Michelin Premier.

But this is also some dumb high school dropout at Discount Tire. Peep Tire Rack reviews.

Dunlop Sp31, for almost 4 years, 39200 Km on city driving. Planning to get 4 UNIROYAL PAW AWP3 this week. In June, the dealer suggested changed all 4 tires with alignment. Am i too hard on tire?

I can see cracks on tread wells. is it normal? the Honda guy did not say anything so it should be ok.

Wow, some of the folks here are merciless on tires.
I put 76,000 miles on my OEM Dunlops SP 7000 from 2012 Fit.
Could have gone more but they were dry rotted after 5 yrs in the sun.
