Exclamation Honda Fit (GE8 09-14) 175/65R15 Winter Tires/Wheels on GK Fit

Hello all,

I am looking to see if my GE8 175/65R15 Winter Tires can fit on my new 2016 Honda Fit.

When looking at 2015/2016 GK Honda Fits, the OE Tires sizes specified are:
185/55R16
185/60R15

I previously had a GE8 Honda Fit Sport using the following:
185/55R16 - Summer
175/65R15 - Winter

Questions:

1) Will I still be able to use my GE8 175/65R15 Winter Tires and 15" Steel Rims on my 2016 Honda Fit?

2) Will any spacers/additional modifications be required, or is it basically "plug n play" (or rather "bolt n drive")?

3) If both GE8 and GK Honda Fits use the same OE 185/55R16 Tire sizes, why is the 15" OE Tire sizes different?

4) If the general Rule of Thumb when going from summer to winter tires is to go 1" diameter small and narrower, why is it that 175/65R15 is not a OE supported Tire Size for the GK Honda Fit?
(even Tire Rack doesn't list this size as either Recommended or Alternate http://www.tirerack.com/snow/SelectT...autoModClar=LX)

Thank you

Hello,

80 views and no response

So is no Honda Fit GK owners living in the snowbelt even considering winter tires?

My assumption is yes, you are considering or have already due to Government mandated.

If that is the case, wouldn't it be wise to:
- Go down to 15" wheels
- Use same diameter tires to keep the speedometer reading exactly the same as stock 16" (therefore use 175/65R15 vs 185/60R15 which adds error)
- Use narrower tire due to it's advantage in almost every category of winter driving (therefore use 175/65R15 vs 185/60R15 which are wider and at a disadvantage).

Thus, if yes you are considering or have already bought winter tires and based on 3 wise points above, why are you fellow Honda Fit GK owners not using 175/65R15 for winter?

thank you

nope, there are 100 threads of the same subject... i have responded to many of them with pictures of the setup on my own car and my opinion of the matter.

i have the GE steel wheels on my GK with 185/65-15 snow tires during the winter months. you will be fine with the 175/65-15s on the GK.

Thanks for the response!

I actually did an Advance Search for keyword "175/65" in the "Fit Wheels & Tires" section including sub-section results, and no results in the "3rd Generation GK Specific Wheel & Tire Sub-Forum" show up. When I use keyword "175/65R15", only my Thread shows up. Thus, unless the Advance Search function is completely flawed, I think I have the only Subject pertaining to 175/65R15 winter tires on GK Fits. If there is another pertaining to this same subject, please do help post the link within this thread.

However, it's good to hear I'll be fine with 175/65R15s on my GK.

Any thoughts as to why Honda no longer lists 175/65R15 as a OE stock size option for the GK Fits, and only the 2 sizes mentioned in my original post?

It seems very strange they would not reuse a size for 15" that's already working for them in the GEs, given that they are reusing the same size for 16" on both GE and GK.

Thank you,

car is completely stock. it's primary purpose is commuting duty.

the shiny wheels were konig roller 15x7.5 +32mm. they really did not fit the car, i was just playing around. looked cool, but made the car handle worse than stock.

Since that is the case, why is it that the 16s for the GK remain the same dimensions as GE8, and only the 15s got wider?
