Front shock absorber Replacement
Front shock absorber Replacement
Hello dear fit Freakers
So here's my question, after 12 years and nearly 164 000 km ( 102 miles, not that much), My driver side front Shock is pretty much done. It's a B**** because the passenger side one it still good. But i do have to replace both. At those point, in time. Seem like those part are expensive for OE. My garage say 320 EACH. ( in CAD). I can find them slightly less expensive Online, but not by much. I do have a Friends who works in a major Car part distributor Warehouse and can have them a lower price maybe with his employee rebate. But It might still be a Lot.
I think the stock fit suspension was good, ( my car is stock except of HFP 16 wheel with sporty 195/50-16 tires), So I didn't really consider aftermarket, but now...
In the extreme case I need the head and the boot ( 68$ and 45$ each which is standard, so 260 for those with taxes) plus work and alignment ( which is the same regardless of the head and boot, they all have to be
dissemble in any case and alignement is also required anyway), I'll end up paying 1200$ and like around 950 At the lowest estimate. This for 2 front shock absorber. I find this pretty steep a price.
I have will no choice because soon, the car will be just dangerously unbalanced. Do you have any suggestion? At this point, and this price I feel Like I could have a suspension upgrade or and my crazy? yes My car is 12 years old and not the cleanest on, but if I have to shell out 900-1200, maybe I good find a upgrade? Maybe I could find used part... not a fan though. I justed shell out 800$ to repair my A/C last month (I was doing a 1400 km road trip, I could not survived without it)"
Thank you.

Looking around I found a complete front kit on rockauto , monroe. Which is suppose to be a reliable brand. I wonder if those are OE equivalent or better?
it's 313 for the complete kit. The Shock alone are listed at 136 on amazon.ca ( the shock price are not listed on rock auto).
